Analysis of European Lamp Market

In European market, Italy, Germany and England are main lamp consumers. In European consumption ranking results of 2004, Spain and France follow the above three countries, and Spain exceeds France for the first time. Italy is the leading lamp manufacturer in Europe, its production value becomes twice than ever in 2004 and achieves 2,400,000,000 euros; the second is Germany which reaches 2,200,000,000 euros and stands head and shoulders above England and Spain.

The majority of products are Europe-made in European lamp market, however, in recent years, there is an increase with steady steps in European lamp market as well as imports, and import quota of domestic consumption in all European countries increases. Imported lamps in Europe have risen to 6,000,000,000 euros in 2004 and exported lamps are 5,400,000,000 euros. Since 1999, Proportion of imported products has gone up, by the year of 2004, it has taken 56.7%. Among them, crystal chandelier, floor lamp, table lamp, chandelier rises fastest. Meanwhile, Chinese products come into European market and hold 1'5 import market quota on the whole. Imported lamps in Germany are mainly from China with a trend of raise, lamps from China are medium lower grade. And characteristics of local products are increasing advance power in competition and obvious features.

Imported lamps from countries other than Europe are growing unfalteringly, which shows a tendency of increase in imported goods in European production and consumption, and the development of European industry opening will bring increases in lamp export. The following changes occur in lamp market exported from Europe to Asia and Pacific areas: 2,850,000 euros in 1999, 3,200,000 euros in 2000, 3,330,000 euros in 2001, 3,350,000 euros in 2002, 3,030,000 euros in 2003 and 3,090,000 euros in 2004. Italy places the first in Europe lamp export, and it achieves 1,200,000,000 euros, account for 50% of its total output. Among them, floor lamp, table lamp, chandelier, crystal chandelieralso rises fastest.

According to the analysis of classifies as follows -- lamps for houses, lamps for public buildings, lamps for industries and lamps for outdoors, we know that production value of lamps for houses reaches 4,100,000,000 euros and equals to the last year; production value of lamps for constructions and commerce environments reaches 2,500,000,000 euros and declines by 2.5% compared with 2003; production value of indoor industry lamps reaches 1,600,000,000 euros and raises by 0.5% compared with 2003; production value of outdoor lamps(decoration and special lamps) reaches 1,400,000,000 euros and raises by 1.3% compared with 2003. In term of records, production value of European lamps reaches 9,900,000,000 euros, which roughly equals to its value of 2003; correspondingly, lamp consumption in 2004 is 10,500,000,000 euros, with a raise of 1% comparing with 2003, and this consumption increase mainly benefit from increase of imported products. Although imports add by 4%, trade deficit exists all the same.
