Food That Increases Metabolism

Diet do not always have to come in pill. Whenever you mention diet aids people automatically think of those magic little pills that promise to just melt the fat off your body. There are some merits to some of the diet pills and supplements, but there are also some very good diet aids that people forget.



Water. Many people forget the power of water for a dieter. If you drink enough water your body won't need to hold on to extra water. It can get rid of it and in so doing, cause a decrease in water retention. Drinking water with meals also helps to make you full a little quicker, at the same time improving overall digestion. Water is essential to the proper function of the metabolic processes in the house.

Exercise. This is another often overlooked diet aid. Exercise can speed the weight loss process and also helps with cardiovascular health. Since health should be the ultimate motivator for weight loss this is a key component in any program. It does not have to be strenuous. A light, brisk walk every day or every other day for just 30 minutes will help.

A good Multi-Vitamin/Mineral Supplement. A lot of people who diet are lacking some of the essential vitamins and minerals in their diet. The diet may limit certain foods that contain those nutrients. The body needs the vitamins and minerals to function properly. The best way to ensure that you get all the essential ones is to take a good multi-vite every morning.

Meal replacement bars and shakes. This is one that must be used sparingly. A diet based on them is, first, not set-up for long term success, and second, quick to lead to boredom. However, a good meal replacement shake or bar can be very important when on the road or unable to eat your normal meal. These are much better than swinging through a drive-thru.

Fresh Air. That's right, fresh air can be a diet aid. Nothing saps motivation and energy quicker than being stuck inside for long periods of time. Depression is not a state that is conducive to weight loss. A quick blast of fresh air will perk you up and rejuvenate your spirit. You will find yourself ready to attack the rest of the day or night.

Laughter. Laughing not only burns calories, but it helps release endorphins which give a feeling of elation and reduce cravings. Besides, if you're laughing about something you are probably not thinking about hunger or your next meal.

Support. This one is essential. If you don't have support from family and friends then you will quickly succumb to the temptation to quit. But, if your friends and family are there for you they will help you focus on the diet and not undermine your efforts. They will keep you motivated and keep you moving toward your goal.

Although these are not your normal diet aids, these are essential to the success of a diet. They will either enhance or destroy a diet plan. These diet aids, like diet pills, are meant to support and augment the diet.
