For starters, quarterback David Carr has been replaced by Matt Schaub. Schaub has minimal experience but he is 6'5 with a big arm. After many teams showing interest over the years he will finally have a chance to start. Many are unsure with what he will bring to the field. In three years Schaub has only attempted 161 passes. Schaub was a gamble, but it might just pay off for the Houston Texans.
In the running back position, there is Ahman Green. Green is getting up there is age, especially for a running back, and his 2003 season of 1883 yards and 15 touchdowns is in the past. But if Green fully comes back fro his back injury that sidelined for almost all of 2005 he could still be very productive. Houston has also signed Ron Dayne to back Green up.
Some people are expecting a big year from is wide receiver Andre Johnson. Houston spent their number three overall pick on Johnson a few years ago with hopes for a superstar to emerge. And Andre Johnson does have all the makings of a superstar - he works very hard on his game in the off season, he is big and fast and physical while the ball is in the air. He also has some of the best hands in the league. Johnson will face quite a bit of double coverage with no one on the other side, but again, do not be surprised if this is a huge year for Andre Johnson.
Tight end Owen Daniels, who was a converted H-back from Wisconsin , stepped in as a rookie last year and he caught 34 passes and five touch downs. Owens will need to improve his blocking though, but he certainly gives Schaub another pass catcher while he is on the field.
As far as the defense, The Houston Texans have shaken things up a bit in the off season in hopes for a better 2007 season.

Released after just one season with the team, Eric Moulds departure has left a big hole next to Andre Johnson. To help with this problem Houston chose Jacoby Jones in the third round. As far as the defense for the second year in a row, the Texans used their first round pick on a defensive lineman, Amobi Okoye. Okoye, a 19 year old Louisville graduate, has come in to try to help a defense that normally doesn't touch the opposing teams quarterback. On one hand it makes sense that Houston brought Okoye in because after passing on Reggie Bush and Vince Young a year ago in favor of Williams it's obvious how much their front office and coaching staff value the defensive line and based on their depth chart situation inside one can see why they'd be interested in Okoye. Okoye is a prospect that the NFL Draft has never seen and after playing for the Cardinals as a 16 year old true freshman, he will only be 20 years old as an NFL rookie in next season. The sky is the limit for him both physically and mentally as Okoye has shown he is a mature young man ready for his moment.
Last year Jason Babin, with his 5.0 sacks, led the team and they finished with just 28 sacks in 16 games. Also, Mario Williams has a year under his belt and must provide a strong presence as an outside rusher. Overall, the Houston defense should be improved from last year, but they still have a lot of room for improvement.
That being said, Houston has to contend with a tough division with Indianapolis and Jacksonville . Houston Texans tickets will be selling fast this season you should buy your Texans tickets early and buy them from a ticket broker to get premium seats.
Football Off Season Training
As football season approaches, there is typically a lot of activity that occurs in a football fans household. Many women prefer not to think of themselves as football widows from September of one year to January of the next year. They prefer to look at themselves as women who can begin to rearrange a wardrobe for football season.
When organized properly, football season can be a lot of fun. The National Football League buys their football players the finest football uniforms that money can buy. Families deserve to dress just as nice as the men on the playing field and their favorite team should be proudly displayed all over town too. So many committed football wives will take that to task and begin shopping for NFL team jerseys, NFL banners, and even get a few NFL posters and pig-skin footballs for their child's room.
A family favorite for wear during the football season has always been the Team tee-shirts. Closets are easy to organize when most of the clothes are made of lightweight materials that are easy to wash and maintain, even after the football season has ended. Since many tee-shirt sizes fit several body types, they are more affordable to own and buy too.
NFL tee-shirts are designer wear for family members at very affordable prices. The cost to rearrange a wardrobe is minimal and if organized properly, a family of four might be able to afford season tickets to all of the home games of their favorite NFL team. Souvenirs would be possible too and everybody that goes to an NFL game always wants one or two for other family members that did not make it to the game.
Keeping a good stock of NFL socks on hand is always a good idea. NFL socks are good quality socks that always seem to keep everybody's feet warm during a game even if there is snow on the ground. If the wardrobe locker at home is truly organized for football season, NFL football fans will always find a nice pair of socks ready to be worn so that everyone can get to the game on time.
Of course, there are special tee-shirts that have to be purchased for post season wild card games. All of the souvenir jerseys might come out of the wardrobe locker for the divisional playoff games that typically will occur on Saturdays. For the Conference Championships, people might have to dig out their NFL team windbreakers and heat up some cocoa because mid-January has a tendency to be quite chilly, even in the South.
The wardrobe locker might begin changing once again by the time the Super Bowl arrives in February. Depending on which team makes it to the Super Bowl every year, it may be necessary for someone to pay attention to who wins the Conference Championships. The last task of the NFL football season will be to make sure that everybody in the family will be wearing either an AFC Champion clothes selection or a jersey or jacket that reflects a team in the NFC. Buying Super Bowl gear will be the thrilling culmination of a terrific football season.
