NNTP, or Network News Transfer Protocol, is the protocol which communicates Usenet messages between Usenet Servers and Usenet News readers, and is defined in RFC 977. Just like other protocols smtp delivering mail, and HTTP is for web pages, NNTP is the protocol for requesting and sending Usenet news messages.

Usenet eventually evolved to include files. But since Usenet messages do not support attachments, people started to use programs to convert their binary data like images, videos, and software into one or more text emails, by using a known binary-to-text encoding algorithm such as Base-64 or yEnc encoding. Users could then use software to decode them back into their original binary form, and view the image or video.

With this development however came problems as the size of the file becomes bigger The more the chance's were of corruption in the file. (you may have encountered CRC error (cycle redundancy check) in your extraction of rar files. Once finished winPar will tell you if its possible to repair the file using the existing PAR's if it cant you will have to find some of the offending missing files until win par can help. To repair just click repair and the rar files will be examined and repaired. This may take hours depending. Once repaired you can go back to your collection of rar files and extract the file like normal 00.rar right click extract to specific local and there should not be any crc errors now.

Got iso

Most files that are on the Usenet Binaries groups are ISO's this is just the format of a CD. You have two options you can burn the image onto a disc using burning software like NERO of your favorite burner. Most software will support ISO's or you can install virtual drives. This is software that makes virtual CD/DVD drives on your hard rive. Then you can just plug your ISO into your virtual drive and it will work. This is great for testing and is a lot more streamlined than hundreds or thousands of CD's .
