1. A total lack of interest in the outside world. Any self respecting couch potato has virtually no interest whatsoever in venturing out doors. There is no point since all your human needs can be satisfied in your living room.
2. The ability to let go of all personal ambition. This is a character trait of the advanced couch potato artist. Very few ever attain this - the ultimate goal. Still, hold it in mind as your vision of nirvana.
3. Fight club rules apply. Remember, nobody talks about the couch potato lifestyle. It is a way of life to be enjoyed for its own sake. Do not glorify it or use it to satisfy the ego's need for adulation.
4. Resist nothing. Let in your need to be. Be and do not do. This is couch potato tao at its finest. Experience the moment, devour those snacks, enjoy your chilled beer and lose yourself in TV. Be!
5. Drop your status needs until you no longer have any materialistic drive. This is important. If you spend hours every evening watching TV you need to let the adverts. wash over you without getting caught up in the need to acquire.
The same applies when lavish lifestyles are presented in movies and serials. In most cases you are being encouraged to drop the higher path of pleasure and relaxation for a world of effort and striving. Be very careful at these moments to stay true to your ideals.
From Couch Potato To
I think this is a wonderful thing, because for the first time in our most recent history, these principles have been brought forth to the masses. If the world can get on board with the understanding of this law we all can create a better reality for ourselves and for those who come after.
The problem is that The Secret has only scratched the surface of these principles and people who have had no experience otherwise with its tenets think that all they have to do is "sit on the couch of manifestation" and "wish" the money, the car, the girlfriend/boyfriend/lover into their lives.
This couldn't be further from the truth. Yes, ask, believe and receive is correct. But there is also this: take inspired action! How do you take action on what it is you're drawing into your life?
You take action by going down to that car dealer test-driving that new car. You take action by following your hunches and intuition and wind up getting a cup of coffee where you don't normally go and you make a connection that leads you to your desire.
Asking, believing and receiving doesn't mean sitting around until your desires fall into your lap. He-ll-o McFly!
Everything that exists comes first from thought. One day a man got tired of sitting on the floor and began to imagine what it would be like to be higher off the ground and more comfortable. Voila! The chair was born.
But after imagining this - what did he do - he went out, got some materials together and starting making something that had never been made. Yes, he thought this into being, but it took his "inspired" action to make it so.
Those of you who want nothing more to sit on your couch and "wish" the Powerball, the Super Lotto, the Mega Million winning tickets into your hands - think again - more than likely it won't happen. And if you get lucky and it does - you won't have anything to show after a few years because the kind of thinking that got you into the place of being broke - will keep you there no matter how much money you win.
The Law of Attraction works without a doubt - and wanting something - keeps in always in the future. Working with the law of attraction to create your reality means you are a participant in your life - as well as the witness.
Learn to think, emote and feel your creations into being and then lovingly take action when and where you are inspired to - you will be surprised at the results.
I remember when Gordon and I were building our house. We had a glue lam ? a huge beam ? twenty-six feet long by sixteen inches deep and six inches wide to put into the bottom floor of our house above our garage.
We used the law of attraction and a lot of inspired sweat to create, design and build our dream home on the Western Slope of the Sierra Nevada. Yes, we paid for grading, foundation, sheetrock, trusses, HVAC and insulation to be put in by contractors; but we did absolutely everything else - with no experience whatsoever in construction.
So here we were with this glue lam to put in after we had framed the first floor of three floors. I kept thinking that someone was going to magically show up and help us. We would be 'rescued' and this beam would just go up magically. Hah, what a joke! Then my Aries persistence won over and I told my husband, "we need to figure out a way to do this ourselves, nobody's going to be helping us here!" We did. We found a way - using the principles of the fulcrum point. High school math pays off after all.
The same thing happened on the next level when our neighbor suggested we build the walls lying down and then stand them up. With a six inch wide wall, that only works if you have a crew of men or a wall jack, otherwise it is impossible for one or two people to lift.
My husband built the back wall of the guest bedroom - which is sixteen feet wide - complete with two by six construction, a four by twelve header, and a sixty-forty window cutout which means a lot of extra wood with a king, a jack and a jack. (These are terms for the studs that sit next to a window)
We couldn't lift this thing at all. It sat for a few days; again we hoped that something would happen to help us over this hump in the road.
One day we couldn't stand it any longer, so we just went up and did it. We rigged a method that would allow us to pull the wall up using the truck without dropping the wall two stories to the ground and protecting ourselves at the same time.
The old saying, when there's a will - there's a way applies to the law of attraction as well. This isn't all metaphysical hoo-hah - these principles work, especially if you apply a little inspired sweat to the process.
