No, I did not participate in those programs of course. My classmates and I, together with our professor, sir Kragi, went to Pampanga Bay yesterday for some photo shoot for our subject Photojournalism. And what journey we had!!! It’s not simple to go to the tip of Pampanga.



We left Angeles City past 4 a.m. to capture the rising sun. We have reached the town of Macabebe at about 6 a.m. then we rode the boats… yes boats!!! That was my first time to ride a boat!!!

The bay was huge, and the rising sun reflecting on the water was magnificent. Photography is my passion, so I took some shots of it as we went sailing through. I also took some pictures of the birds like swallows, kingfisher and tagak.

When we have reached a land we hopped off the boats and gave ourselves some stretching. I walked through the grass and mud, taking shots of the flowers, bugs and dragonflies I saw along the way. I love taking pictures; I haven’t noticed that I have used my entire 36-shot film within that almost 2 hour ride! So I loaded my cam with another 36-shot film.

After that stop we rode our boats again and bought some food. We stayed at the extension of Macabebe’s municipal hall, where only 4 or five caretakers look after it. The building was located near the bay, and this time the bay was really, really vast… the only island in sight is the one where we were stepping on. There were mangroves and dry trees near the waters, so I took the privilege of hitting my cam’s trigger again and again.

We stayed there until 3 p.m. then it’s time to go for us to capture the sunset… we traveled with our boats for about 2 hours, with the rays of the fiery sun glaring at us, giving us an instant tan. I was so exhausted that I could not take pictures anymore; I just stared at the waters and the birds flying above us.

Nevertheless when we have reached the island where we are about to shoot the setting of the sun, I was ecstatic! The tender rays of the sun gleaming at the waters with boats nearby are picture perfect. I took my cam and then click! Without realizing it I consumed another 36 shots of the film.

The trip, although strenuous, was fulfilling. As we sailed through the waters with the colors of the twilight, a feeling of contentment surged within me. Another dream of mine came true. I was trigger-happy for a day! Harsh conditions came our way alright… but I have overcome the adversities. I survived!
