Generic Zocor Simvastatin is an HMG CoA reductase inhibitor. Simvastatin blocks the production of cholesterol (a type of fat) in the body.

gas, bloating, nausea, stomach upset, heartburn, abdominal pain, constipation, or diarrhea;

cough;

headache; or

insomnia.
