(1)With any healthcare plan, the most important thing to decide is what doctors you will get in the network. Several people are accustomed to particular doctors. If you want to continue seeing your own doctor, then you must make sure he is affiliated to that particular health plan. Remember that all doctors are not affiliated to all healthcare plans.
(2)If you have some preexisting condition, then it could be a deterrent in getting the healthcare plan of your choice. Some healthcare plans do not cover for preexisting conditions. Hence, you will need to see what exactly your healthcare plan will cover. Every healthcare plan provider will cover for different preexisting conditions. You will need to shop around to get what you want.
(3)See if you have specialists for certain medical conditions within the network. Supposing that your requirement is for a particular health specialist, it could be very problematic for you if your healthcare plan does not include such a specialist in their network, or has one in a place where it is difficult for you to travel. Also specialist services are not covered by all healthcare plans.
(4)Get yourself informed on what your healthcare plan defines as emergency. If there is such a situation in future, you will need to know whether your healthcare plan would cover for it or not.
(5)Each healthcare plan has a different stand with respect to the number of checkups they allow per year. One annual checkup is usually covered, but if you need more, they may not provide cover for the extra ones. This consideration becomes more important if you have kids that also would need to be checked up often.
(6)Healthcare plans come with a long list of exclusions that you must be aware of in advance. Get a list of the exclusions in advance, so you will know what you are getting and what you are not.
(7)Find out in advance what your healthcare plan's stand is with respect to prescription drug coverage. Since prescription drugs can be very expensive, this becomes a very important part of your healthcare plan. Check out if you will have to co-pay for the drug, or get it free or at a discount. Some plans would cover generic drugs and some won't. You need to know about all this before going ahead.
(8)If there are several features in your healthcare plan, see if there are any you can do without. There are some covers like mental health, nursing homes and drug treatment which you may not require at all. But you might end up paying for them.
(9)If you are female, then make it a point to see that the plan covers for obstetrician and gynecologist visits. There are expensive medical facilities like fertility treatments etc. that you might like covered. Even if they are in a co-payment setup, you must know what portion of the bill you will have to foot.
(10)Once you have short-listed a couple of plans you like, you must begin comparing their costs. Your deciding factors should be lower costs and provision of the facilities you like.
These are the important pointers that could provide you the healthcare plan that could be tailor-made for you. Go around shopping a bit to get what you want, and never settle on the first plan that comes your way.

Do you sometimes have a drink in the morning to stop your hands from trembling or to ease a hangover? Do you end up drinking more than you meant to drink? Have you stopped doing things you used to do because you would rather drink? Do you drink more than you used to drink? If you said yes to any of these questions, drinking may be a problem for you.
Anecdotal evidence also suggests the first six weeks of the first semester are crucial to freshmen academic success, according to the NIAAA report. And because the early part of freshman year is when many students engage in heavy drinking, it may interfere with successful adaptation to campus life, the report read. About one-third of first-year students fail to enroll for their second year.
Financially these costs are estimated at more than 100 billion dollars per year. The financial costs are also high for those 1 out of 10 people who do seek help for their alcohol problem. Besides the above costs there are many others that are associated with alcohol abuse and addition. There are alcohol related automobile tickets and/or accidents. Blackouts can be a serious consequence of drinking. Depression often becomes a problem and relationships are damaged or completely ruined. People often start drinking at parties or socially from time to time and then may progress to serious and problematic drinking. There are people who are more at risk when it comes to alcoholism than others. Families who have members who are prone to having problems with alcohol should be especially careful when it comes to drinking.
Most of the time, alcoholics don't know that alcohol has taken hold of their life. This is called the denial stage. Alcoholics feel that if they can get up and go to work everyday, even though secretly they have an excruciating headache, they don't have a problem. But what keeps the alcoholic going throughout the workday is in knowing that after work, they'll have those highballs or beers, which will in fact, make them feel like their old self again. The problem is, that's not our old self, but our new old self on alcohol. You see, alcohol changes the person we are inside, not only does alcohol, with time, rot our insides, but it rots what comes from within us. What we do, how we treat others, and our spirituality. The potential to be a whole person has been put on hold because of alcohol. The booze stunts the mental capacities and impairs the ability to see the world clearly enough to get passed the weakness and mistakes we make in life.

Then your motor skills become impaired, you have difficulty speaking, you speak in slurred fashion (which oddly enough, you cannot hear yourself), you start shivering, and complicated actions become very difficult to execute (I always used to watched alleged drunk drivers trying to fasten their shirt buttons - an everyday activity that suddenly becomes as difficult as threading a needle). At the same time your sensory abilities are hampered. The can't-see-properly phase or being drunk. If the occipital lobe is reached, the alcohol level is usually about 0,20 g/100ml. Your visual perception ability becomes limited. You have increasing difficulty to perceive movement and distance. Your depth perception becomes impaired and your peripheral vision decreases. If you now drive at dusk, you will have great difficulty seeing the little boy running after his ball, or your fellow drinking buddy, staggering by the roadside.
If you just crave the occasional glass of wine or beer, make sure you are aware of the craving and make a conscious choice to have a glass, or skip it. Don't let your cravings or emotions make the decision for you. If you find yourself addicted to alcohol and are unable to not give in to the cravings, please seek professional help. Alcohol addiction is very serious and the earlier you seek treatment, the easier it will be to kick the habit and take control over your alcohol cravings.
