Divan beds are made of a base of boxes supporting a mattress on top. Traditionally divan beds, similar to the futon, are configured to be used as cushioned sofas by day and bed by night. Furthermore, divan beds are differentiated between sprung boxes ? those having their tops lined with springs for additional support ? and the platform top, which provides a flat firm base for the mattress.
