Here is a great question that I was asked a little while back. "I am selling products to businesses and I am trying to get more clients. I sell consulting. Do you have any hints or suggestions?" I go into detail on my answer within this paragraph and I thought that it would be of great benefit to anyone who reads that is in a similar situation.
The first step to getting more business clients is to make a list of your existing business partners. You can ask your existing business partners to introduce you to companies and individuals they work with. In some cases existing vendors or customers of your partners could be interested in doing business with you, too.
I know one speaker that I worked with, who delivers presentations to not only companies but also associations. Associations are great by the way because they have got people from all kinds of different companies who are members of that particular association.
When he makes a presentation for the association, he uses some cute marketing tactics, such as a referral campaign and contests. If a person wants to take part in the contest, he or she has to write a testimonial and give his or her name and contact information and then a lottery is drawn. The winners receive gift certificates, which give them the right to hire him again, so he manages to get repetitive gigs.
I am not quite certain what his fees per presentation are but I think they are about $5,000. The gift certificates he gives are worth $500 and $250 and they must be redeemed within a specified period of time (three months, six months, or something like that). However, the main point is that the gift certificate makes people move and they take the action to hire him.
If the winner does not redeem the gift certificate, this is as if he or she had burned money. This moment is critical because this is the trigger for action - redeem or lose money. Everybody is happy with this arrangement because people enjoy his presentations and they get a gift certificate, which has a value and gives them one more excuse to hire him again.
You always want to give people a good reason to hire you again. I would look to challenge you to think of some creative ways to incorporate that into the way you sell. When people are there you want to capture that experience and then you want to remind them of that experience afterward and the benefits that they got from it and look to followup when they are excited about you and their experience.
Getting A Business Licence
Getting more clients is the key to the success of your internet business. In this environment where everybody on the internet can buy your product, you need a strategy to ensure success. This success takes on a form you did not think about called self esteem and self motivation. Why does self esteem play a role? Because rejection is real and you may lose your motivation when you build your home base business on the internet.
Planning to create a new home based business or adding to an existing business, do not be misled by how easy you believe it is to make money online. You need to understand that this is a real business model that has many awesome benefits and many pitfalls waiting for you.
At all cost please run away from all the schemes that say you can make money overnight, you make five dollars but you will not MAKE MONEY to LIVE for LIFE Overnight. Making money online just like the offline world, is full of many offers from many types of individuals. You have seen all the get-rich-quick schemes out there but in today's fast-food world, easy sells. If a marketer labels his product as the easiest thing to do, ever - for a limited time only, it sells better. But marketers sometimes tell tales which means the marketer has it easy not you, this is not a win-win situation. So if you see an ad that proclaims you can get rich in 21 days or less, remember it usually means the time it takes to read the book. Reality is you must execute a real world business plan even for an internet business.
When something looks so appealing and feels awesome but you know little, then be cautious. Protect yourself, do not become greedy, do not go after the easy, and do your research.
Next, match yourself to the proper based business model. Perform your home work and self introspection and this is how you can make a decent income. Some business models let you get started for little to no cash outlay just by using the equipment and resources that you already have. These models are classified as you having little money, but plenty of time. Make sure you have the time because the commitment in time is pretty extensive or you may have purchased an expensive education. Other business models call for considerable upfront income, or an outlay of cash. These models expect large outlays to show they are a serious business. But you still need a plan because what worked as little as 6 months or 6 weeks ago may not work today. A software change by one major internet provider can change the business landscape dramatically, sometimes overnight.
What other worries do you have when I say know yourself. You also need to know how you like to learn. Is it hands on in room full of people or do you like to work alone? If you like to learn in a crowd then you may want to build a partnership to get started. Whatever your style, don't expect the internet to magically change your learning style. Finally explore how you will manage your finances. Nothing is free, remember that.
So what's needed to avoid the pitfalls? The safe bet is to understand that a home based business that makes money online is no different from an offline business. It calls for forethought, planning, education, avoidance of greed, skill and stamina. In addition to knowing self, you will require large quantities of internet; office, voice and customer relationship components or IOVC technology and you need to know yourself to not get frustrated with all the internet technology.
The difference is this business can be done all on the web or partly on the web but you must realize that the key to developing a solid income from an internet business still lies with YOU.
