The Pomeranian has a mind of its own and it is not always open to the idea of housebreaking. Some owners will try for months and either give up and use papers or resort to Pomeranian litter box training. Always remember that the Pomeranian can be a stubborn student so you will want to exercise patience when housebreaking. Sometimes the toy dog breeds like to go to the bathroom in places you would never look like under couches or in other spots that are difficult for you to get to. Before resorting to Pomeranian litter box training you may want to do some looking around the house and then continue with standard methods.

If Pomeranian litter box training really is the way you want to go then get a litter box and place it in the area that the dog has been soiling the most. Fill it with shredded newspapers and be prepared to clean the litter box often. Do not use regular litter as they may eat it and get sick. Remember that this is supposed to be part of the housebreaking training so still take the dog outside once in a while.

A regular feeding schedule helps to housebreak a dog, as you know when you are supposed to take it to the litter box because it has just eaten. You can monitor its eating schedule or just take it to the litter box every forty-five minutes.

If there are accidents then clean them up and do not punish the dog. The dog will only respond to positive reinforcement so praise and reward it when it uses the litter box and avoid punishment at all times.

Over time it will become apparent that your dog is starting to take to Pomeranian litter box training and very well may have the hang of it. If this is the case then you can start slowly moving the litter box towards the door. Once the litter box is near the door you should be taking the dog outside instead of letting it use the box. Over time it should get the idea that going out the door means going to the bathroom.

The idea of Pomeranian litter box training to many owners does not seem temporary and it shouldn't. Your Pomeranian is very smart and if it decides that this sort of activity is preferable to going to the bathroom outside then you will probably wind up with a dog that is a full time litter box dog.
