It is really surprising but the modern trend is favoring glass sink in place of the traditional metal or other sinks. Glass is brittle and has questionable durability, you might ponder. However when you look at your own daily uses you will change your mind. Perhaps glass is the only thing that we use everyday in most of our endeavors. You have drinking glass, glass plates for food and snacks, glass window panes, glass table tops, glass finished decorative products all around your house or office. A few of them gets broken now and then. Yet they are there for a substantial period to erase any doubts about their durability. And if you handle them a bit carefully, there is nothing better than them.



What about the car window shields and electronic articles having mostly glass screens that you possess? Are not they susceptible to external pressures causing them to break and splinter away? Yet we use them every day in our daily works. So what is wrong with glass sink? Glass articles have their own glamour and they look beautiful when fitted elegantly. A glass sink could well be one of your bathroom vanities or kitchen vanities. They are easy to clean and polish up and a shining sink could well enhance the d'cor your kitchen or the bathroom presently has.

Ordinarily a glass sink will be made of tempered glass. It means that the glass with which the sink is manufactured has been heated so that it reaches a point just below melting. Thereafter the heated glass materials are cooled down very quickly. In result it becomes very strong and highly durable in comparison to the traditional glasses. It will not break normally and you will require striking it with something very hard and strong such as a hammer or dropping something very tough and heavy like a lump or iron. It is also quite safe since it does not break into large pieces that could be dangerous or even fatal for someone connecting with it. The glass breaks into small splinters that are not as harmful as its larger counterparts. In any case your child is not going to suffer a large gash with small splinters.

It does not mean that you will not treat the glass sink with care. Usually they have thick bottoms and sound rims. However, if you have not installed them properly there will be every chance of their breaking untimely. This is exactly the case in places where you find broken glass sinks or doors hanging. You can without much care drop items like toothbrush, tongue cleaner, razor set, toothpaste etc in the glass sink. You have to be very careful when you fill the sink with water. Remember, pouring hot water in a cold sink can easily making it crack just it happens in case of the glass when you suddenly pour hot liquid into it.

You can clean the glass sink much more easily in comparison to metal sinks. Glass cleaner or vinegar or even a little acid contents could do the trick and your glass sink will be shining as new one.
