The masses go crazy about new release dvd's. I am not particularly fond of new release dvd's. For the most part they are high demand low profit items. My goal is to make about two or three dollars on a dvd, but a new release dvd costs me so much more to purchase. Rather than spending fifteen to twenty bucks to make $2, I would rather spend six or seven to make the same amount of profit.



I like the movies that are around two or three years old. These are the dvd's that I look into. I understand that the titles that you choose to sell are totally up to you, but in my opinion I prefer the older ones. It is imperative that you spend a little time researching the titles that you want to buy so that you can ensure that you are not stuck with a lot of unwanted dvd's.

I direct all my customers to research the auctions listed by ebay's largest dvd sellers. If you will take a look at their past auctions, you will not see many, if any, new release dvds there.

WHAT DVD TITLES SHOULD I SELL?

Researching titles is the most important thing you can do. If you go to ebay and click on "Advanced Search", you can search by seller, and then refine the search to completed items. This is a good way to look at the past auctions of these top sellers I mentioned and see what titles are selling.

Don't limit yourself to just looking at the auctions of these top sellers. If you browse the dvd category on Ebay, you'll find lots of sellers to take a look at.

Once I find a title that is a good seller, I add it to my "Buy List". You'll find the titles that you research will grow in size like a giant snowball. It seems a little slow at first, but after a few weeks, you'll have a few hundred titles that you know are good sellers.

My recommendation is that you devote between 5 and 10 hours a week just researching titles and adding them to your Buy List. By the end of your first week you may very well generate around 100 titles. Then after about a month, you will see that you have a few hundred good selling dvd titles.

Besides a "Buy List" it is also a good idea to have a "Do Not Buy List." You may find a good seller, but after a while it will fall off of the good seller list. It should be a routine that you go through your list from time to time and cut out the dvd's that no longer sell so that you make sure that you do not purchase them again.

Another Great Point

You will not make money on every title that you offer. The goal in your business is to make the maximum amount of profit on every title that you offer. My advice is that you don't waste your time on titles that you think will sell well, because most likely if you think they will they probably won't. Research big selling titles (and these do not have to be a new release dvd) and find the ones that you can see a two to three dollar profit on. When you find these add them to your buy list.
