In an effort to increase tourism the price of airfare to the Islands and the charges for hotel rates have plunged. It is an effort by the travel industry to encourage consumers to spend a little of their money to visit the tropical paradise.



Tourists are not the only concern facing the State of Hawaii. The leaders in the state are concerned about measures being presented by President Barack Obama that will restrict companies and possibly reduce travel even more. The new measures would put limits and restrictions on the types of rewards companies could use (including conventions, meetings and other travel incentives).

Travel and tourism are both important aspects of the economy in Hawaii. Any restrictions to travel could put even more strain on the current situations in the island state. A large number of government and industry officials have banded together to send a letter to the President urging him to re-examine the measures and the impact that they could have on those states that rely heavily on tourism.

The measures are aimed at those companies that take government aid during the economic crisis. It is an effort by the Federal Government to force companies receiving taxpayer support to stop the outrageous spending seen by many companies after the recent bailouts of the financial industry.

Hawaii has positioned itself as a place to do business, for family vacations and leisure travel. In recent months many groups have canceled meetings and incentive trips to the state putting a heavy dent in the tourism dollars coming into the region.
