Grease, Motors oils and metalworking fluids are widely used applications of industrial lubricants. They are used for the lubrication of moving surfaces of to prevent them from rust and corrosion by reducing friction. They also reduce heat by carrying away from moving components and cool them. That's why sometimes they are also termed as coolants.



Greases are semi-liquid form of industrial lubricants. They are used in those moving components of machinery where liquid form of industrial lubricants would not stay in position well. They are generally used in ball bearing, roller bearing, axels. They are consisted of natural, synthetic or semi-synthetic substances. They are used between moving components machinery for sealing purpose also.

There are several categories of industrial such as; dielectric, vacuum, micro-dispersion, bearing, high temperature, silicone, and multi-purpose greases. For the better performance of greases sometimes powder of graphite is mixed in them.

Dielectric greases are especially designed to reduce friction and wear and exclude water from moving components of machinery. Vacuum greases are generally used for the purpose of vacuum sealing or smooth flow of vacuum pump applications. Other types of industrial greases are also used in machine cooling applications. They carry heat away from the moving components and prevent them from being extreme heat and cool them and finally provide longer life to machinery.

Sometimes wax and petroleum jellies like Vaseline are also used as greases. Generally Vaseline and silicone based greases are used for the purpose of lubrication in food handling equipments. For the better performance of industrial greases sometimes additives are also used.

Motors oils are liquid forms of industrial lubricants. They are largest application of industrial lubricating oils. They are almost used in every type of industry. Mainly they are used in majority in automobile industry, motor vehicles (small and heavy vehicles both) and other powered equipments. They are also termed as engine oils and used for the purpose of lubrication of several moving components in internal combustion engines. They help to reduce friction and heat from the moving parts. They clean and remove contaminants and debris from the moving parts. They prevent engines against being extreme heat and cool them. That's why they are sometimes also termed as or heat transfer fluids.

There are three types of motors oils available in the market that are conventional oils, synthetic oils and synthetic bend oils. Conventional oils are prepared by the process of refining crude oils. Conventional oils contain some of unwanted contaminants such as; sulphur, waxes, reactive hydrocarbons, etc. So, the get rid of these problems synthetic oils are used.

Fully synthetic oils are prepared by the complex process of several chemical compounds using high performance additives. Synthetic oils are more expensive than conventional oils. They are better for better lubrication in comparison to conventional oils. They flow better, prevent wear better and keep the engine cleaner. Synthetic blend oils are lubricants that are designed to get performance between conventional oils and fully synthetic oils.

Metal working fluids are also liquid form of industrial lubricants and they are used in metal working industries. They are used in machine tools or equipments that are used for the purpose of metal cutting, metal shaping, metal bending, metal grinding, boring, etc. They provide better lubrication to cutting and grinding tools and provide them longer life. They also cool cutting tools and enhance the performance of tools.
