So I was under some pressure, what with having been forced into bathroom cleaning by circumstances. To recap, I am a person who, while a firm believer of cleanliness, is still strongly against the prospect of doing the cleaning myself. I simply think that there are other people to do that job. I'm too busy with the rest of life to worry about something as mundane as cleaning. Unfortunately, personal pride (ie, my revulsion at letting my wife do it in my stead) has led me to volunteering for the task.



Of course, I did not have the capacity to do the cleaning the bathroom (particularly the grout) properly; I didn't like cleaning the room as a child, much less clean not one, but two bathrooms as an adult. It was just male pride that drove me on, scrubbing and cleaning to the best of my ability. In the end, however, it was a losing battle; the grout in particular is impossible to completely clean.

So, as any fighter in defeat would do in my stead, I retreated and re-evaluated my strategy. And in the end, I decided to call for reinforcements. I consulted the commander-in-chief (the wife), after which I proceeded with calling the grout professionals.

After a day or two, the professional cleaners arrived with their equipment and machines. We discussed their fee for a bit and after agreeing on a figure, the cleaners set up their machines and started cleaning up the bathroom while I stayed downstairs. The hum of the machine soothed me, as I knew the work I so hated was being done for me.

Cool. I must say the bathroom floor looks pretty good. Almost brand spanking new, if I may say so. Again, I never would have had the patience to do this myself. Fortunately, as the cleaners have said, because we regularly cleaned up the grout ourselves, they didn't need to do much. Me, I'm just happy I'm not doing the cleaning myself.
