Grow Your Online Business In Just 3 Simple Steps

This is a simple report about how to make money online and I think you will be amazed at how easy it is once you have clear-set goals. Nowadays just about every family has an Internet connection on their computers. In the age of wireless cable high speed Internet and notebook computers starting an online business and promoting it to cyberspace is easier than ever.



It would take a book to tell about all the different aspects of running an online business and making it work but I believe this report will break down three simple steps you can take to increase the moneymaking potential you deserve for your hard work.

So, without further fanfare, here are three steps you can take to increase your online business.

1. Increase online sales by increasing the number of customers ...

It's a given that you simply must have customers to maintain a business whether it is online or a bricks and mortar store, right? How do you increase the number of customers visiting your website?

A) Referrals

Start off by telling friends to tell friends about your online business. Then, expand into getting customers to "advertise" for you to people they know if they are satisfied with your product or service.

B) Give away free reports to get sign-ups for a newsletter

Your newsletter or e-zine is, in my opinion, the most powerful marketing tool an online businessperson can have. So, giving people an incentive to join your newsletter is imperative. DON'T SKIP THIS STEP!!

C) Give an amazing guarantee

By an amazing guarantee I don't mean "satisfaction guaranteed!". An effective guarantee will take all the risk from your potential customer and will get you a much higher conversion rate of visitors to sales.

Yes, you may give a few more refunds but you will be surprised at how few these will be. And, the refunds are just a drop in the bucket when compared to the increase in online sales.

D) Using the search engines effectively (paid and free)

If you are just beginning you may have to start with some pay-per-click ads like Google Adwords or Overture but make sure not to fall into an advertising "black hole". Some of the most effective advertising is done through free search engine placement.

You can build your ranking and find your website closer to the top of the search engines using articles related to your product or service. You don't even have to write the articles yourself! There are plenty of hungry writers online who will be more than happy to write quality articles and reports for you at reasonable rates.

E) Placing ads in other e-zines who cater to your market

Another way to promote your new online business is by advertising in newsletters who will reach your target market. Do some research and sign up for a few zines to get a "feel" for their audience. Then do a contact about placing your ad or writing an article for them.

NOTE: E-zines are good places to pick up new readers to your newsletter by offering a free report to new subscribers.

F) Define who you are and what you do for your customers

Give details of why you are the best and what's in it for them. Tell why your product or service is unique among the thousands of other website owners who are scrambling for their attention.

When you determine why you are special, put that in your headline. You only have a few seconds to grab a web surfer's attention so make sure your headline is compelling.

Personally whenever I find my online business in a slump, I will dig up these steps and read over them again. We don't always need to be told but sometimes we need to be reminded.

2. Increase the amount of transaction for each customer

A) Upsell - Offer something extra

The definition of an upsale is getting the customer to upgrade or buy something else right after the initial sale.

As soon as your customer has bought your initial product, offer a second complimentary item or service for less. If your offer is good, conversion on the upsell will be great.

Think.... Super Size it? You've just bought a large drink for a little more money but that money adds up over millions of satisfied customers. d:-)

Upselling is a fantastic way to increase your amount of sales per transaction. Use it and you will be pleasantly surprised!

B) Improve your selling techniques

Learn more and better ways to sell online from pros and write better sales presentations for your website. Some simple questions to ask yourself about your website are listed below.

Did you include ...

- An eye-catching headline?

- Tell what the service or product will do for them?

- Have testimonials?

- Make an offer?

- Give a guarantee?

- Tell them why they should buy today?

C) Package two or three or more products together for one price

Everyone likes a great deal! Are you offering your customer several products at a discount that will take care of their problem? A good way to package is by using the "good, better, best" system. The "best" will be the highest priced and the most benefits. Many customers will take the "better" package out of these three.

D) Raise the price by 5%

I once heard of a convenience store chain who lowered gas prices to beat all their competition and then raised the prices inside the store by 10%. So simple but they made an absolute killing from this idea.

If you have a really big ticket item you may try just 1%. Any increase will bring in more per transaction up to a point. When you reach maximum, find a happy medium in your pricing structure. Believe it or not, sometimes a higher price will out-pull a lower one. Test, Test, Test!

3. Increase the number of times a customer buys from you

A) Develop a mailing list

A mailing list is one of the best way I know to get repeat business on the Internet. If your material is informative and helpful you can send your subscribers to your article pages and collect adsense income, affiliate money, or sell your own niche product related to the article. If you don't yet have a list, start a mailing list now!

B) Have special sales for "elite" customers on your list

Make your customers feel special by offering them "secret" deals meant only for them. You can do this periodically and sell the same customers over and over again.

C) Give a price break for frequent buyers (frequent flyer miles?)

This is alone the same line as the special sale but you can also offer an incentive up front for buying frequently. A good example is a subscription service offered by online video stores. Internet marketers are not a stranger to this idea. A subscription service works especially well if you offer an ongoing service. You can offer monthly, quarterly or yearly plans and offer discounts for the longer periods.
