Harmony Kingdom is a company that manufactures and produces nature-themed figurine sculpted by artists from Cotswold, England. The statuette pieces made by Harmony Kingdom artists are inspired by the natural surroundings and wildlife their place of operation has to offer. The pristine forest and wilderness of Cotswold is an important factor in the creation of Harmony Kingdom pieces.
The history of Harmony Kingdom started with a teenage boy who had no particular ambition and instead searched and explored his calling by moving to a mountainous region of England and letting his dog lead the way. This fellow's name is Martin Perry.
Martin Perry stopped his schooling when he was at a very young age of 14 years old and decided to work for his film producer uncle that gave him a job as a gofer (someone who does errands in movie sets.) When Martin reached 22 years of age, he left the film industry and moved to the mountain region of Snowdonia, North Wales. He started shepherding for a local farmer for free in one of the beautiful mountains with his companion dog's assistance. Here, he and his dog tended sheep for five years until he met his soon to be wife Corinna. He moved to the lower areas to be located in a less secluded place but still continued shepherding for four more years. Martin ended his shepherding career after injuring his back while sheering.
After this unfortunate incident, Corinna introduced Martin to the owner of a company that manufactures and supplies art replicas for museums around the world. Martin then got a job in the company's packaging department where at times, he creates the replicas himself whenever the items are still not available or finished and his replicating specialties involved Japanese netsukes.
In 1989, with his acquired knowledge and hands-on experience in sculpting, he formed his own manufacturing company called Antiquark Ltd. His company's humble beginning mainly started off with a simple market consisted mostly of his friends and on London flea markets.
Today, Antiquark Ltd. is responsible for manufacturing sculptures, figurines and statuettes designed and made by Harmony Kingdom artists. Each Harmony Kingdom artists also started out just like everybody else. They came from different backgrounds and countries, some of them pursued different studies and colleges and some lived simple lives in the countryside. Among these artists are Peter Calvesbert, David Lawrence and Monique Baldwin.
Peter Calvesbert is considered to be a Master Carver not just because of his creations exquisiteness, but also because of his creations expressions and hidden meanings mostly related to nature awareness. As any other person would do, Peter first began as a student and studied Journalism. In Journalism school, he met his future wife, Andrea. The two got married in 1995 and they spent their honeymoon not in a lavish hotel or inn, or some tropical beach, but on an African Safari. They loved wildlife so much that a trip to the diverse wilderness of Africa will be their perfect start as newlyweds. Peter Calvesbert is also one of the artist that create items Harmony Kingdom's Black Box series.
David Lawrence lived in a small village in Wessex and the pristine forests of the area have helped brought out his creativity through his creations for Harmony Kingdom.
Monique Baldwin came from the country of Dominica where she studied Art and Design for two years. Then took up an HND in crafts at Carmarthen College at Wales. She then got a job at Martin Perry Studios making beautiful sculptures mostly for the Harmony Garden line up.
