Heart Shaped Diamond Jewelry

    View:
I don't know anyone on this planet who can resist the lure of diamond, least of all a woman. All you need to do is let her see a jewel glittering with the stone from heaven and she is as good as yours. Ladies, no offense; even guys get caught in that web too.

Diamond forms from the element called carbon, the most abundant in the element in the earth. It is also used in making some of the best and most expensive jewelry you ever saw. It costs a lot, but most people don't mind the cost if only they can have the thing on their bodies for just a few glorious moments. I won't say I blame them because of the beauty of diamonds jewelry on people, especially beautiful ladies.

Diamonds have a long history of surviving - a very long history. Even the story of their formation is one that awes you. Eons in the depths, coagulated by centuries of pressure and decomposition. Made perfect in imperfection. And now, you could make a jewel out of one, and know that it will never fail you.

The temperature required to form diamond ranges anywhere from 1000 to 1200C. The amount of pressure you need is also formidable. No wonder the stones are so flawless when they come. No wonder people even kill themselves to own a single stone.

The best things in life are free, some say. And in a sense they are, until one man gets to it and puts a price upon it. Diamonds are free for whoever finds them first, and then they cost a fortune, prize for the highest bidder.

Conditions that are ideal for diamond formation cannot be reenacted by humans. Much as they have tried, they have always failed. And so the diamond retains its uniqueness in brilliance and beauty. Little wonder it is so expensive as a jewel.

There is something about looking into a diamond that both excites and appeases you. It is not just its beauty and radiance, it is a property known as its fire. Diamond refracts light, diffusing it over a wide range. It is called fire, and once it catches your soul, you won't stop until you owned the piece.

The stones that made the mountains were not always solid. At one time, they were molten, known as magma, made so by the extreme pressures and heat in the earth's heart; the same pressures and heat that formed diamonds over eons of processing. So when the magma came up, so did the diamonds with it. Today, we mine them and wear them, and we bask in the glory of the diamond jewelry.

Black diamonds are not thought to come from the earth's bowels because their chemistry is seen as different. By infrared analysis, carbonado samples indicate that the minerals in them may have been formed between 2 and 4 billion years ago in a supernova explosion. These figures make your head spin, don't they? That should increase the value of diamond jewelries, don't you agree?

Diamond has various values, based on the way it is formed, and the qualities it so possesses. Some that are thought to form directly from graphite contained meteorites upon impact with the earth are opaque and range from very small to somewhere about a centimeter in diameter. However the best types are the ones that come from the bowels of the earth itself.

As you wear your diamond jewelry, oils from skin contact are susceptible to build up on the surface of your precious gemstones. When the build up of oils on your jewelry occurs, proper cleaning will bring back the lustrous beauty your jewelry once had.

A common home solution that is ideal for the maintenance of your diamond gemstone is a non-abrasive cleaning agent such as in ammonia based household cleaner, often used as a window cleaner. A less chemically abrasive solution in cleaning your diamond is a mixture of one-part vinegar to two-part cold water. Dip your diamond gemstone in the cleaning solution and gently wipe in circular motions with a cotton swab. Rinse the diamond in warm water and pat dry with a lint free cloth.

Diamond gemstones that are set into a jewelry piece require special attention to its care. Not only are abrasives harmful to your gemstones but, chlorine and strong ammonia based solutions are harmful to most precious metals and can promote premature erosion of your jewelry.

Diamond jewelry settings should be cleaned with caution in order not to loosen the gemstone from the delicate posts that secure the precious stone in place. Cleaning the jewelry piece can be accomplished by mixing a solution of one-part mild liquid dishwashing soap with two-part warm water. Use a cotton swab to dip into the solution and then use small circular motions to clean the entire jewelry piece. Take exceptional care around the prongs of the setting to ensure that the gemstone stays in place and does not become loose. Thoroughly rinse the diamond jewelry piece with cool water and lightly pat dry with a lint free cloth.

Occasionally, you will come across a jewelry piece that has become encrusted with sediment due to improper storage or neglect. To bring the diamond jewelry back to life with restoring its original luster, you may want to consider using a professional jewelry cleaning solution found at many jewelry outlets in your area. An ultra sonic cleaning kit can safely remove grime buildup, which is a process of using a commercial cleaning solution and high frequency sound waves.

Although, self cleaning your diamond jewelry is practical and wise for most uses, heirloom diamond jewelry should be restored by a professional jeweler that is bonded and insured. A professional jeweler will be able to identify the alloys within the precious metals that your heirloom diamond gemstone is set in. Taking the extra precaution in preserving the value of your investment will be their first and foremost concern.

Allowing a professional jewelry cleaner perform the initial cleaning of your heirloom diamond jewelry piece will permit the jeweler to inform you of any special maintenance or repairs that your heirloom may need in order to preserve its value over the long term.
