High Speed Internet Availability

    View:
As one of the most trusted names in cable TV, it should come as no surprise that Comcast has adapted its great technology to deliver high speed Internet and home phone service as well. After all, innovation is what drives the TV industry and this company has always played a great role in its position!

Comcast's high speed Internet service is truly superior in terms of the quality of service and the power that it can bring into your home. Just imagine being able to download huge amounts of data in an instant, communicate with people from all over the world in real time, and even get work done without leaving your own home! It's all possible with this high speed Internet service because of the fact that Comcast delivers data at a rate of up to 8 mbps normally and as high as 12 mbps through its Power Boost feature in order to satisfy even the most data hungry Internet applications! This means being able to enjoy the latest HDTV movies and best new software downloaded off of the Internet in a very short period of time! It also means being able to interact with others in virtual worlds, massive multiplayer games, and in a variety of online communities. It also means being able to work with other people in real time no matter where they are on the planet! All of this is possible with a high speed Internet connection from Comcast!

Besides plenty of speed Comcast can also provide you with the basics of making sure that your online experience is as safe and pleasurable as possible. This includes free, high quality virus protection software, along with the updates that you'll need to keep it current. It also means having access to parental control software and an optional firewall. All of this will work together to maximize your safety. You'll also get free or discounted access to lots of exciting web venues that can provide lots of information and entertainment!

Of course, Comcast hasn't neglected the cable TV side of its business in favor of high speed Internet. In fact, the cable TV element of this company has only gotten better thanks to the addition of things like HDTV channels, digital TV, Digital Video Recording, and lots more regular channels to enjoy! HDTV is the next big thing in TV entertainment because it provides a viewing experience that's truly worthy of a home theater! Digital TV is the technological advancement that forms the basis of everything from HDTV to interactivity in the on screen program guide. It has also allowed Comcast to provide many more channels than were possible with the older analog service! Digital Video Recording (aka DVR) is an optional feature. Should you choose to get DVR capability included with your subscription, you'll be able to program your digital receiver to record any TV show for later viewing so that you can make your own schedule! Plus, with the addition of video on demand content through Comcast's ON DEMAND service, you'll be able to watch any of a wide variety of videos on a moment's notice!

With all of these features that are a part of Comcast's high speed Internet and digital cable TV services- along with its Digital Voice service- it should be clear that Comcast is the ultimate source of telecommunications services for your home!
High Speed Internet Availability
When there are a lot of different types of Internet services available, choosing the best one for you can sometimes be confusing. This is especially true if you aren't very good with technical things. It's actually fairly easy though to get a hold on all of the differences among the various Internet access technologies that you can get in your home just by learning a few different facts.

The first thing that it helps to understand is how download speeds are measured. For the purposes of home Internet connections, download speeds are measured in the amount of data that can be downloaded in a second. For example, the maximum speed of a dial up modem is 56 kilobytes per second and a kilobyte is one thousand characters, so a dial up Internet connection can let you download the equivalent of a document with 56,000 letters every second. While this may sound pretty fast, the fact that there are a lot of pictures littering the Internet these days- and digital pictures are literally worth a thousand words- a dial up Internet connection turns out to be pretty slow. The faster Internet download technologies have speeds measured in megabytes and a megabyte is one thousand kilobytes and 1.4 megabytes is the amount of data that will fit on one 3.5 inch floppy disk.

Now that you have an idea of what download speeds mean, you can start to understand the relative differences among the different Internet access technologies. DSL is the slowest type of home Internet connection technology that's taken seriously these days. DSL is provided through phone companies and takes advantage of existing phone lines to provide an always on Internet connection that won't interfere with the normal use of the phone line. DSL download speeds vary between 268 kilobytes per second and 2 megabytes per second.

The fastest type of residential Internet access technology is called broad band digital cable, and it's available through digital cable TV companies like Comcast. Comcast high speed Internet service can provide consistent download speeds as high as 8 megabytes per second with 16 megabytes per second available in some areas for brief periods of time to handle especially large downloads. Comcast's high speed Internet service comes with free antivirus software- as well as updates for it- and a free wireless router so that all of your computers can access the Internet from anywhere in your home. It also provides access to a variety of different online features.

Yet another choice for accessing the Internet can be found through satellite technology. Satellite Internet service is available almost anywhere and can provide download speeds as high as 3 megabytes per second, but it has more than its share of disadvantages. For one thing it requires a massive investment in special equipment, and after that, its monthly subscription is about twice that of Comcast's broad band cable Internet access and most DSL services. Even setting aside the costs, the satellites that this technology uses are so far away that users experience a lag time that makes it pretty much useless for online multiplayer computer games and other applications that are dependent on precise timing.

Among all of these different technologies, you'll probably find that broad band cable high speed Internet from a company like Comcast is will provide the most speed, the best value, and the greatest degree of versatility.
