Your work at home business could be running a web-based sales site on the Internet. Sales have been modest, but certainly not stellar. Selling over the Internet can be a challenge - but not because you don't have a good product. It is more often because you aren't reaching enough people to market your product to.
You have a number of different alternatives when looking to increase the web-sales for your work at home Internet business. This article is going to take a look at a couple of the different things you can implement in order to build the profit margin in your home business - and make your web sales shine.
In my mind, there is really only one (maybe two) thing you need to focus on to increase sales at your work from home business. Since web sales are directly based on the traffic that your site generates, then you need to increase traffic.
Here are 2 immediate ways you can begin to increase web-sales on your Internet-based site, by increasing the traffic:
" Affiliate marketing - You can increase your web traffic in a number of ways by having an affiliate marketing program set up with your home-based web sales site. Affiliate marketing is using the qualified traffic from other websites and funneling those hits to your website. Most businesses have a web button or text link on another website that links back to their own. When a 'click-through' occurs and a sale is made from that click-through, you will pay the affiliate a certain percentage of the sale. This is basic e-commerce at its best. By having links on other sites, you increase the exposure your site gets - and the traffic will increase accordingly.
" Quality articles - Let's say your work from home business was selling pre-made crafts. Why not create and submit articles for crafters and hobbyists that will provide them with a nifty bit of information and then link back to your website where a potential sale can be made. Hundreds of thousands of people are searching through article directories, and article directory pieces are prominent in search engine rankings. If you want traffic, this is a great way to get it.
The next thing that needs to happen when you drive the traffic to your website is you need to convert those thousands of people that are on your site into sales. Obviously, that is what makes your work from home business profitable.
Pictures, stunning sales copy, and realistic benefits are the one way to ensure that you help make the sales you need to when the traffic arrives at your site. In a future article, we will look further into the things you must do in order to convert the sales on your web site. For now, let's just try and attract the traffic we deserve!
Home Based Sales Business
I enjoyed coming up with this list of top reasons metromoms love direct sales. It helped remind me of what's motivating me as an entrepreneur/mother of three. Take a look at these reasons and see where you fit in.
• MONEY
Let's face it, with the recent trends in the economy—especially at the gas pump—many of us need something to provide financial breathing room. Direct sales gives us the ability to meet and establish our own financial goals—whether that's a few hundred dollars a month or a more substantial income.
Direct sales has the added benefit of offering opportunities for residual income. Once you have established a customer, you benefit from all future sales!
Direct sales usually requires just a small investment to get started. With most companies, it takes very little capital and very little inventory to be on your way. Plus you get tax write-offs from running a home-based business!
• CONTROL
Direct sales allows us to control our careers. Instead of just a JOB, we enjoy something more meaningful. You get out of it what you put in to it. You make the choice about how much you make along with how much and how hard you want to work.
You can also work around your family's schedule. As moms we also love how direct sales lets us balance our career with our personal and family life. We're committed to spending time with our children and direct sales is a perfect vehicle that allows us to earn money, but still have time for a life.
• FUN
There are over 30 industries represented in direct sales, so there is certainly something to fit your interests—from books, to finances, to travel, to gourmet food, to wellness products, to scrapbooking… the list goes on and on. So you can find the one that meets your needs and your personality.
Then there is the social aspect to direct sales. You have access to your own large support network and have the possibility of partnering with your friends for a common goal. Many of us also love the chance to share our products through “parties” and gatherings.
• BEING OF SERVICE
As women when we find a solution to a problem we naturally want to share it with others. We enjoy the opportunity to connect and interact with other women and help them get the products they need.
For those of us who're very focused on providing great service, this allows us to provide very personalized sales service.
• PRODUCTS
Many of the women I've talked with got initially involved with direct sales because they were so enthusiastic about the products. Women love to shop and buy, but not be sold to.
Direct sales allows us to get our products at a reduced price and/or make a commission for sharing something we'd happily buy anyway.
Why should you care about your reasons?
I encourage you to take a moment and reflect on all of the reasons why direct sales works for you—whether it's the products, the opportunity to share solutions, the ability to balance your career with your family, the chance to make great money or your own unique combination of these reasons. With these reasons clearly in mind you'll be proud of your choices and eager to share your solutions with others.
Having clarity about what drives you is an absolute key to success in direct sales. I'll be sharing more tips on achieving this clarity in upcoming teleclasses so stay tuned!
