Home Decorating Tuscan Style

    View:
Next, scan home decorating magazines for ideas of what style you would like your home to follow. Take clippings of the look you want to achieve then take time to figure out what will work best with your room of choice. Do you prefer bold, bright colors or deep, rich fabrics and colors? Think about the colors that your family would enjoy, as they have to live in this home too. Spread the color theme throughout the home for a collective look. Now, select a print that can range from floral, textures, stripes, patterns and plaids. Use the chosen fabric to match with all others, this can be your signature print. Have fun and get really creative with home decorating, as this is one of the most rewarding things you can do.

Make a Larger room more inviting

Make a room appear inviting by visually dividing your room up with rugs, chairs and plants. Make a specific object the main focus of the room such as chair groupings then work around this to make further area groupings. If you want to make a room appear smaller apply warm and soft colors to the room so the room can blend together. To make a room appear bigger you need to apply cool colors to the walls but not dark or warm. Use a small number of prints in the room. Mirrors and glass tabletops create a look of a larger room.

Decorating for a formal room

Apply long curtains; striped, vertical wallpaper to your wall with beautiful long window treatments for a look of elegance. Cushy, soft carpet and dark, polished wood will create a beautiful clean and smooth look. Create a mirror image that adds balance to the room with two chairs or end tables places together.

Decorating for a casual room

Apply heavy carpet and strong, textures wallpaper to this room. Make the rooms appear inviting with square shaped furnishings and lined wallpaper. Finally create an informal balance in the room by using chairs and end pieces that aren't the same shape.

Wallpapering

Preparation for your walls in a very valid step to obtaining the best surface to apply your wallpaper too. The walls need to be clean and evenly smooth. If your walls have been wallpapered previously you need to remove old wallpaper if it is peeling and not in good condition. Remove the paper by grabbing and pulling the paper off the wall. For previously painted walls you need to smooth the walls removing all scrapes and bumps by sanding or other techniques. Cracks need to be filled in with filler and then primed before the paper is sized up. Glossy surfaces should be washed carefully then smoothed. On a new and unpainted surface, the walls need to be covered with primer or a sealer. Paint surfaces including ceilings and baseboards before the wallpaper is applied. For extra security and in case wallpaper gets damaged in future, extra wallpaper should be brought.

How to cut and measure the wallpaper

Take measurements of the heights of the room in several different places from the baseboard to ceiling.

This is always helpful as the heights may be different in some places and take the highest height. Then add 4 inches to this height, which is ideal for trimming the walls. Use this measurement to cut the wallpaper. Make sure the pattern is checked at the ceiling before the wallpaper is cut. Mark strip where the baseboard and ceiling meet. Apply to clean and smooth surface. Number the strips with T for top on the back. Then all strips can be number accordingly. Continue by cutting one strip at a time after the first two strips have been cut.
Home Decorating Tuscan Style
Determining your home decorating style can be difficult, especially if you have never decorated anything before. However, with a careful examination of your personality, your color and hue preferences, and geometric shapes that you find pleasant, you can quickly begin to shape your use of furniutre and decorating personality.

The home décor you choose will reflect the things that you find pleasant in other aspects of your life. If you think back to when you were in school, you probably had a favorite subject. If you preferred math, you will probably prefer to decorate with clear, concise lines that imitate geometric shapes and can be measured in real numbers. However, if math wasn't such a pleasant experience for you but you loved art class, you may like the more abstract, flowing type of design, with intricate weavings or carvings and delicate drawings and images.

Modern furnishings tend to be quite geometric, while the neo-classical furniture style takes into account the need for a contemporary design while still being compelled to love the ornate and robust. Neo-classical integrates the two cultures into one decorating style that can please those who are torn.

Home décor also reflects your moods and coloration. For example, if you tend to be an energetic person who never sits still, is always on the go, and has a need for adventure, the colors in your home will be bright and motivating – reds and deep purples, bright blues and sunny yellows. On the other hand, if you are laid back and tend to go with the flow, your decorating style will reflect this with choices of pastels, like delicate pinks, pale blues, and mellow yellows. Still another may be artistic and introverted, causing dark colors to appear, with black trim or navy blue décor. For those who love nature, the home décor will bring nature inside, with browns and greens, as well as floral motifs and oceanic designs.

Of course, you also have to take into account the size of the areas that are being decorated. For example, dark colors can be detrimental to the perception of an already small room, making it seem as though it is going to close in on you and even causing claustrophobia. You can open up a room like this by using light colors or at least backing off a shade or two to lighten your dark tones.

When you begin to consider all the aspects of your personality and your color and design preferences, your ideas for each room in the house will quickly start to take shape in your mind. Jot down your thoughts and save them because you can't do everything at once, and you may want to come back to that thought later.
