Home Remedies For Coughs

Aloe vera Mix equal parts of aloe juice and honey. This is very good for a scratchy cough. Take some eucalyptus leaves and mint leaves and boil them together in water. Now inhale its vapors. It will help you in curing your cough and is also one of the good home remedies for cough. Ginger make a tea using ginger and drink 6 oz several times a day, as needed. Take 1 cup water and bring it to a boil. In this add on 1 tsp turmeric powder and 1 tsp carom seeds (ajwain). Boil till half. Add 1 tsp of honey and drink it twice a day. Saturate slices of oranges in wine overnight. Cook in the morning until the slices are very soft. Eat several times a day. Also very good for phlegm. Mullein soothes and relaxes the lungs and bronchial tubes, which eases a cough.

Another effective Home Remedy for Cough is a sauce made from raisins. This sauce is made by crushing 100 gm of raisins with water. 100 gm of sugar should be mixed with it and allow the mixture to heat. When the mixture obtains a sauce-like constancy, it should be conserved. Twenty grams should be taken at bedtime every day.

Lemon is very effective for chronic cough. You can add several dashes of white or black pepper to a sliced lemon and to take its juices to relieve yourself from constant coughing. You can do this thrice each day or until you feel more relieved. Consuming grapes is also one easy yet effective alternative, since grapes act as a natural expectorant. If you feel that a cough is about to start, gargle several times each day with salt and water.

Raisins are also a fantastic cough remedy. Prepare a sauce by grinding 100 grams of raisins with water. Add approximately 100 grams of sugar and heat the mixture. When the mixture reaches a consistency of sauce, it should then be preserved. Twenty grams should be taken before going to bed on a daily basis.

Almonds are useful for dry coughs. Soak seven kernels of almonds overnight and remove the brown skin. Make a fine paste out of it. Add 20gms of butter and sugar to the paste. This paste can be taken in the morning and evening for good relief from dry cough.

Make a lemon and honey drink. Active Manuka honey and propolis have been commonly used as ingredients in the home remedy for cough because of their strong antibacterial properties.

This makes an excellent cough syrup and can be taken twice daily. Crush a medium sized onion, add the juice of 1 lemon and then add 1 cup of boiling water to it. A tsp of honey can be added for taste. This mixture can be taken 2 - 3 times a day for good relief from cough.

Prepare a mixture by adding 1/2 teaspoon honey with 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice and take it every 12 hours. Honey relieves the itchiness by moistening the throat passage.
