There are several home remedies that have been tried and tested over the years to help cure kidney stones. I have managed to collaborate a few home treatments for your benefit. However, lets just make it clear right at the beginning that I do not recommend these as any kind of treatments to be followed by you independently, without the advice of a certified doctor or practitioner. Your doctor may recommend any, or all of the following as side treatments, which you may carry along with the main medical treatment being given to relieve you of kidney stones.
Kidney Beans- Kidney beans, also known as dried French beans are a valuable home remedy for kidney stones. The medicine is to be prepared as follows- remove the beans from inside the pods, then slice the pods and put about sixty grams in four liters of hot water, boiling them slowly for six hours. This liquid should be strained through fine muslin and then allowed to cool for about eight hours. Thereafter the fluid should be poured through another piece of muslin without stirring. A glass of this decoction should be given to the patient every two hours throughout the day for one day and, thereafter, it may be taken several times a week. This decoction would not work if it was more than twenty-four hours old. The pods could be kept for longer periods but once they were boiled, the therapeutic factor would disappear after one day.
Basil- Basil works to strengthen kidney stones. For Kidney stones, basil is highly recommended. One teaspoon of basil juice along with a teaspoon of honey must be taken daily. This facilitates the expulsion of stones from the urinary tract.
Celery- The regular intake of celery prevents stone recurrence
Apple- Apples are useful in kidney stones. In countries where the natural unsweetened cider is a common beverage, cases of stones or calculus are practically absent. The ripe fresh fruit is, however, more valuable
Grapes- Grapes, while being an excellent diuretic, helps prevent kidney stones because of its low albumin and sodium chloride content. It is an excellent cure for kidney stones.
Pomegranate- Pomegranate seeds are said to have therapeutic properties as far as kidney stones are concerned. A spoonful of pomegranate seeds, both sweet and sour, ground into a powder, can be taken everyday with a cup of horse gram soup. This helps dissolve stones in gravel.
Watermelon- Watermelon has the highest content of water and is also rich in potassium salts. It is the best and safest of diuretics and is to be used for beneficial results in Kidney stones.
Vitamin B6- Vitamin B6 has shown great therapeutic success in kidney stones. Taken with other vitamins regularly it dissuades kidney stone formation.
Home Remedies Kidney Stones
Not all kidney stones cause symptoms. They're often discovered when you have X-rays for an unrelated condition or when you seek medical care for other problems, such as blood in your urine or recurring urinary tract infections. The pain becomes agonizing only when a kidney stone breaks loose and begins to work its way down from your kidneys to your bladder through the connecting tube (ureter).
Kidney stones usually form when your urine becomes too concentrated. This causes minerals and other substances in urine to form crystals on the inner surfaces of your kidneys. Over time, these crystals may combine to form a small, hard mass, or stone.
Location, size and the number of stones also play a major role in deciding on an appropriate treatment. However, most stones may be treated without surgery. This is made feasible by herbal treatment. Ayurvedic herbs and their standardized extracts are known to have the ability to dissolve kidney stones, at the same time obviating recurrence and urinary tract infection.
Herbs can ease and cure kidney stones to a great extent. They have been found to relax the cramping pain, break down steadily any existing stones into fine gravel, and lubricate the passage of the stones for spontaneous removal. Furthermore, herbal medicines have no side effects. Minor concerns such as an upset stomach or headache may be a consequence of impurities such as synthetic binders and fillers in the herbal concoction.
