As much as the idea of home schooling seems appalling for some people, it has been steadily gaining popularity among parents around the world. This is not much of a surprise as home school has proved to show a lot of benefits that parents deem fit and preferable than having to send their children through the regular curriculums.



Perhaps the greatest gain that one can get from a home school experience is the opportunity to build meaningful and intimate relationships between the parent and the child. Children not only learn educational information through the process but the emotional development of the child is nurtured as well. Home schooled children get to have more quality time with mom and dad who are more involved in the process. Some kids who go to regular schools barely share valuable moments with their parents as most families go through hectic mornings hoping not to miss the bus or to get to work on time. And in the evenings, a few mom and dads may be fortunate to get to bond a few minutes or if one is lucky, a few hours with their children after dinner; that is if the day is not so stressful enough to force them to go directly to bed.

In contrast to this, in home schooling the mom or dad may be able to spend the whole day with the child sharing with him or her common and everyday pleasures. If you and your spouse are both doing the teaching; that is an added joy that you both share. When two or more children are home schooled, it is said to develop sibling relationships as well. Sisters and brothers bond more closely as they spend more time together.

With home schooling, learning is not clock-bound. A bell does not ring after an hour or so to declare that science time is over. If your child is home schooled, he or she has more time to focus on her lessons and finish them at her own pace. You can create a flexible schedule where your child's needs are thoroughly addressed and attended to. Home schooling gives you the ability to vary your lessons and activities to correlate with the skills and interest of your child. This way you can focus on improving the facets where he has difficulty in and nurturing the ones where he excels.

One good reason why parents prefer home schooling is to steer their children away from negative influences. Admittedly, it is unfortunate that peer pressure can exist as early as the child's preschool years. Most schools are dominated by the in crowd who most often tend to intimidate the low profile subdued kids. Cliques are a big thing in schools. With a person's nature to want to belong, you may find your child hanging with the wrong crowd.

It has been said that children who are home schooled grow to be more mature and independent than their regular schooled counterparts. They are confident in their individuality and are courageous enough to stand up for themselves and for their opinions given that they have studied in a more mature environment and may have learned consciously or unconsciously from their parents traits and experiences.
