Comedones are follicles that are formed on the skin because of all the dirt, grime and dead cells. They are of types, namely, blackheads and whiteheads. Blackheads are caused due to the dirt and grime that is in your skin. They are formed along with the dead skin cells. This type of comedone is open and it is because of the dirt and grime that it is black in colour. Whiteheads are closed in nature and this is formed due to the same dirt, grime and dead cells. The only difference is that the dirt and grime are inside the skin follicles and this may cause infection around the follicles. This is a type of acne and there are plenty of natural treatments available to keep acne under control.
The presence of oil in the skin pore aids in the spreading of acne. This is because of the clogging of these pores by the oil which mixes with the dirt and grime. The main cause of acne is the presence of excess toxins and chemicals in the body. The body tries to get rid of these toxins and chemicals in the form of acne because of which you may get infection. The manifestation of comedonal acne is different from regular acne as we have already seen. This type of acne is in the form of blackheads and whiteheads about which we already know. The causes of this type of acne are the same causes of regular acne. The chemicals and the toxins are produced due to the unhealthy food that you eat. Some of the unhealthy foods are red meat, processed foods, alcoholic drinks, soft drinks etc. Sugar and salt are also unhealthy for acne.
One of the ways to cure acne is to switch to a healthy and nutritious diet. This diet should contain lots of fruits and vegetables, pulses and foods that contain antioxidants. These antioxidants help in getting rid of the toxins in your body. A lot of water in your body will also help clear acne in your body. So you should drink atleast eight glasses of water or juice so that these toxins and chemicals are flushed out from the body.
These excess chemicals and toxins can also be flushed out by exercise. This is because exercising leads to sweat on your body. The body can now get rid of the chemicals and toxins along with teh sweat from the body. The overall improved efficiency of the body in pumping blood to all parts of the body will help in getting rid of the excess toxins from your body.
Vitamin supplements are also known to cure acne. Vitamin A, C, E, B6 help in getting rid of acne and also keeping your skin soft and healthy. Fish and cod liver oil contains omega-3 fatty acids that is believed to get rid of the toxins and chemicals from the body.
These natural treatments are way better than any wonder pills that you might have heard about. It is safe too as these treatments do not cause any side-effects.

There are many products available for the treatment of acne, most without any scientifically-proven effects. Generally speaking successful treatments give little improvement within the first week or two; and then the acne decreases over approximately 3 months, after which the improvement starts to flatten out. Short bursts of cortisone can give very quick results. Some types of treatments can rapidly improve some active spots, but not usually all active spots.
Photo therapy using blue and red light has also been found to be beneficial. Intense violet light used twice weekly has been shown to reduce the number of acne lesions by about 64%; and is even more effective when applied daily. Its effectiveness is further enhanced when used along with red light. The light is applied through purpose-built fluorescent lighting, dichroic bulbs, LED's or lasers.
Lasers are normally used to burn the follicle sac from which the hair grows, to destroy the sebaceous gland which produces the oil by burning and to induce formation of oxygen in the bacteria to killing them. Laser treatment can also be used for the scars left behind by acne. However this form of treatment is expensive
Some naturally available substances are also used in Ayurveda and in home made preparations which are effective in some people. There are no medical studies conducted to confirm their action.
