With the demise of ‘the woman down the road' many people are finding it difficult to find a domestic cleaner. This cleaner traditionally would not just be a cleaner but would probably do the washing up, ironing and ‘tidier upper'. These people, invariably woman would be paid a minimal amount and expected to stay for between 3 – 4 hours. They would use the equipment available in the household together with any cleaning products supplied by the householder.
With girls now outperforming boys academically and the majority now having much higher expectations than previous generations this pool of domestic cleaners is drying up. Consequently many people are now turning to commercial cleaning companies to meet their needs. However their mindset towards domestic cleaners has not changed to any great degree.
Some companies specialise in supplying domestic cleaners to meet the customer's requirements. Other contract cleaning companies have seen the opportunities now available in the domestic market and have branched out into that sector. Traditionally these firms have costed their work by the task and not per hour. So when quoting for a domestic clean they give an amount they require for doing the job. If this is a one off clean then it is not normally a problem. However if it is a weekly clean it can cause problems. The householder knows how long it takes to clean their house, because they have done it. So they have an idea of how long they would like the cleaners to be working for. Invariably if two people are cleaning you can be in and out within an hour. The comment from the householder will often be ‘you finished already?' Implying that you could not have possibly done the job properly.
What domestic customers fail to realise is that they are now bringing in professional cleaners. These are people who have experience, skills and knowledge built up over several years. They will also be using their own equipment and cleaning products which by and large will be superior to branded products from the super market. As a result they will clean much faster than the average person. This applies to most jobs. We may all be able to do some of them but rarely as quickly and efficiently as someone who actually does it for a job.
So if you hire in a contract cleaning company to carry out your domestic cleaning remember you are getting professional cleaners not the ‘little woman' from down the road.

Finding a competent exterior cleaning and power washing contractor can be a daunting task; with near useless methods to high pressure sales, making an informed and intelligent decision can be tough. We all want great customer service, professional results, and to feel like we got a good value. How can you determine whether or not a power washing company is competent enough or will give you the results you expect?
It's extremely hard to see the inside reality of any business through their advertising or by requesting an estimate, but there are a number of mistakes you can avoid when choosing a power washing company that may save you some unfortunate and unforeseen headaches.
Hiring a contractor from another industry that just happens to offer power washing services can be something you end up regretting. Many painting companies, landscape crews, and do it all handymen offer power washing services on the side. Power washing is not as simple or easy as some unethical contractors would like you to believe. The fact is, many surfaces can be easily damaged by an inexperienced operator such as vinyl siding, wooden decks, and asphalt shingle roofs.
You are much better off to hire a painter for painting services, a landscape company for landscaping, and obviously a professional power washing contractor for power wash services. Someone is an expert in something but no one is an expert in everything. Hiring a full time professional pressure washing company for your exterior cleaning needs will mean you are leaving your largest investment in the hands of someone that is experienced in the industry.
Another mistake you may want to avoid is hiring a contractor that offers a ridiculously low price. We are all attracted to a low price because we like to work within a budget, but the reality is that professional exterior cleaning services are not as cheap as some disreputable contractors would have you believe. Some power washers attempt to come into the industry by low balling the competition and by offering extremely low prices.
Unfortunately, they are then forced to take shortcuts on the job to turn a profit. Inferior cleaners, cheap equipment, and questionable methods are common, resulting in undesirable exterior cleaning results and risk of damage to the surfaces that make up your home and property. As the old saying goes; you get what you pay for.
You should also evade contractors that aren't willing to show you references or existing customer testimonials. How can you expect good results if their customers aren't saying good things about them? Be sure to ask the power washing contractor for these things along with some before and after pictures of their past projects. Seeing some of the results from past work can be very revealing, good or bad.
Moreover, and probably most important, you need to be sure the pressure wash contractor in question is able to show you a proof of insurance certificate. Taking their word for it is also fine if you feel they are trustworthy but just be sure to ask if they carry the appropriate insurance coverage. Not carrying insurance is another common mistake new or fly by night companies take part in.
They find that after purchasing equipment, cleaners, accessories, supplies, and leaving something for advertising many times there isn't enough funds left for insurance so they let it slide thinking it isn't important at the time. As you know, this can come back to hurt you and why should you have to carry the risk?
It is a good idea to question the power washing contractor about their methods and the steps they are going to perform to get to the end results. It won't take long, normally just a few questions, to know whether or not they are knowledgeable and experienced in the field of exterior power washing.
It is best to research and do your homework first before contacting any contractor about your exterior cleaning needs. Doing so will allow you to make good quick judgments about the power washing company you contact and will permit you to make an informed and intelligent decision when hiring a power washing contractor.
