How Solar Energy Works

    View:
You are reading this article because you are interested in how photovoltaic solar energy works right? That would also mean you are interested in a clean, cheap reliable source of energy that is also renewable? Once the mystique is removed from discovering the process of how does photovoltaic solar energy work people will began to see the usefulness of it. Scientist and those in the private sector are even now looking for ways to make using solar energy in homes and businesses more economically feasible. And it is this type of work that how photovoltaic solar energy works such an ever increasing subject of importance.

How Does It Work?

The first step when discovering the process of how does photovoltaic solar energy work is the gathering of solar power. Once this has been done and collected through the photovoltaic cells they convert that energy obtained from the sun DIRECTLY into electricity. This electricity produced is in Direct Current or (DC) format. This (DC) can then be stored directly into storage batteries. After this (DC) is converted to Alternating Current (AC) it can be used to operate lights and any other common appliance.

Another way that is properly thought of when considering the choice of using solar energy is the following: If you can imagine that it works much the same way that leaving your garden hose laying in the sun all day on a hot sunny day. When you go to use it the first thing that comes out is hot water having been heated by the sun all day. This heated water can be used in the same manner that you would use heated water that was produced through other means. The only difference is in the way it was produced.

As you can see there are at least two very different ways of utilizing solar power. As the technology is developed further you can fully expect other ways of using it.

Conclusion

Now it's time to start putting these ideas into good practical use. But first one must consider the geographical implications of using solar power. If you think about it there are locations that get more sun then average and locations that get less sun on average. Understanding how solar power is utilized you can see that there may be some places that are not suited for it. In fact after reading this article and now understanding how photovoltaic solar energy works you should be able to gauge if a particular location is suitable or not suitable for this alternative energy.
How Solar Energy Works
Solar power is one of the greatest achievements that researchers have established in the world of technology. Hundreds of people have placed their time and energy into understanding out how it operates and how it is able to assist us in our daily lives. They have discovered that it has the ability to be employed to light up houses, warm them, and provide them with the water they need.

Numerous of us are delighted by the technology that is solar energy - but hardly any of us realise precisely how it can store all of the energy that the solar panels gather. All of the electricity is from the sun - which is why you are not able to accumulate it during the evening hours when the sun is covered from us.

Because of this tremendous devices had to be produced that would have the power to store it for many hours and with little troubles. There are thermal mass systems that can hold the energy in the form of heat for average temperatures or for distinct seasons.

These systems are more usually produced with things that have the power to withstand high heat. This includes earth, stone, and water. Some of the more unusual and well produced systems have the ability to lower peak demand, lower the heating and cooling demands, and switch the time it is supposed to be utilised during the off peak hours.

The phase shift materials are also utilized for thermal storage and are some of the more low-cost types. They are more popular for residential homes where they are simpler to get purchase and to set up. These materials include Glauber's salt and paraffin wax. The first Glauber's salt solar power heating system was utilized in 1948 in a house in Massachusetts.

Molten salts are used to hold solar power at high temperatures. This is essential for storage medium and are more valuable because they are cheaper and have the power to hold up against some of the most intense heat temperatures. There are also off-grid PV systems that utilize rechargeable batteries to hold in additional quantities of electrical energy.
