It's important for you to know the symptoms as a first line indication as to whether you or your children have contracted it? If you find you have these symptoms then you need to take action quickly. Diabetes is a highly debilitating illness which often ends in death and it needs to be taken seriously.
Alkaline water has been found to be highly effective in relieving the symptoms of diabetes and helping sufferers get off their medication... but before taking any steps on your own it's important to seek a diagnosis from a qualified physician.
In Type 1 diabetes, the symptoms can often come on suddenly and dramatically. It mostly shows up in childhood or early teens often after an illness, virus or injury. The extra stress can cause diabetic ketoacidosis. Without treatment, ketoacidosis can lead to coma and death.
Symptoms of Type 2 diabetes are often not obvious and you may think they are due to aging or obesity. It's possible to have Diabetes 2 for many years without being aware that you have it. Steroids and stress can be big factors in the onset of Diabetes 2. It's important to take this illness seriously; it can lead to unpleasant outcomes like blindness, kidney failure, heart disease, and nerve damage.
Here are some of the Common symptoms of Diabetes 1 and Diabetes 2
Excessive and Unusual Tiredness:
When you contract diabetes the body is mostly unable to use glucose for fuel. It begins instead to metabolize fat to get the extra fuel it needs. This process is not very efficient. You have less energy than before and you feel tired.
Weight Loss You Just Can't Explain:
Because you can't metabolize sugar, much of the fuel in your food is excreted in your urine via the kidneys. You may find yourself eating way more food than normal and still losing weight. You become dehydrated and lose even more weight.
Excessive thirst:
The high concentration of sugar in your bloodstream overcomes your normal kidney function. Instead of being re-absorbed for future use the sugar is passed out in your urine. The brain senses a need to dilute the blood and you experience this as thirst. As a result you find yourself drinking more water as the body tries to correct this sugar imbalance.
Increased Urination:
The body tries to excrete the excess sugar via the kidneys. As a result you pass more water and feel thirsty.
Overeating:
The body will try to increase its levels of insulin production to reduce the excess blood sugar. Insulin is the key that opens the muscles and lean tissue to receive the sugar. But in Type 2 Diabetes you become insulin resistant. Your muscles refuse to take up the sugar.
Another job of insulin is to make you hungry... you can't absorb this extra insulin so you are driven to eat more.
Wounds Refuse to Heal:
When you have high blood sugar levels your white blood cells can't do their job properly. As a result your wounds heal slowly and often get infected.
Thickening of the Arteries
Long term diabetes can cause your arteries to thicken, reducing blood flow.
You catch more Infections:
Because your immune system is no longer functioning as well as it should you'll often find you are contracting skin and yeast infections as well as urinary tract infections.
Mood Swings:
You may find yourself agitated, irritable or unable to concentrate - all are symptoms of very high blood sugar levels
Impaired Vision:
You may find you have difficulty focusing and things appear blurry.
Don't despair! There are natural solutions available. Alkaline water has been found to be highly effective in relieving the symptoms of diabetes and helping sufferers get off their medication.
Ordinary tap water can be run through an alkaline water ionizer and produce both short term and long term relief for diabetes sufferers. And this ionized water is rich in negative ions which act as a powerful anti-oxidant to neutralize the hordes of free radicals in our bodies.
How To Alkaline Water
Many people have found that drinking alkaline water seems to re-balance the body and dramatically reduce the symptoms and their dependence on insulin.
In a diabetic blood glucose rises above normal levels. The metabolic process converts nutrients into blood sugar to provide energy for our bodies. This glucose is absorbed into our muscles and lean tissues. Our pancreas secretes insulin which is like a key which unlocks the cells in our tissues to receive the blood sugar.
In Diabetes Type 1, the pancreas cannot produce enough insulin and the introduction of insulin into the body via injection is required to make up the shortfall. I Diabetes Type 2 the cells become insensitive to insulin and can't absorb the sugar. This backup of sugar in the blood passes to the kidneys and is eliminated as urine.
If your blood sugar levels drop too low you will fall into a coma, while sustained high blood sugar levels can damage major organs such as the kidneys and heart. In severe cases you can suffer blindness and possibly amputations of the lower legs and arms if wounds are not able to achieve adequate healing.
Here are some startling facts?
Diabetes is on the Rise: More than 20 million North Americans have diabetes, with that number expected to rise to 30 million by 2010. The World Health Organization estimated in 2000 that more than 177 million people worldwide have diabetes. By 2025, it will top 300 million.
Premature deaths: About 80 per cent of people with diabetes will die as a result of heart disease or stroke.
Diabetes is a factor in the deaths of more than 400,000 North Americans each year. Adults with diabetes are twice as likely to die prematurely than are those without diabetes.
A Shorter Lifespan: Type 1 Diabetics on average live 10 to 15 years less than non-diabetics.
Cost of Health Care: A diabetes sufferer can expect to face health care costs that are 200% to 300% higher than a healthy person with additional costs ranging from $2000 to as much as $16,000 or more per year.
Health-care system: By 2010, it's estimated that North American health care costs will top $160 billion a year and, by 2020 will rise above $200 billion a year.
Pregnancy:
There is another form of Diabetes called Gestational Diabetes.
In this form the sufferer doesn't exhibit glucose intolerance, until first onset during pregnancy.
It only affects women during pregnancy and usually disappears after pregnancy. You are at risk if you are more than 35years of age, obese, have a history of polycystic ovary syndrome and struggle with excessive hair growth among other factors.
The "Canadian" Diabetes Association's 2003 Clinical Practice Guidelines for the Prevention and Management of Diabetes in Canada recommend that all women be screened in the 24th to 28th week of pregnancy using a glucose tolerance test. For those with multiple risk factors, this testing should be done during the first trimester, then again during the second and third trimesters, even if the first test is negative.
This is a very serious issue. If you are a diabetic then your very life is at risk!
What can you do?
Lose some weight and alkalize your body!
Many people experience significant relief from diabetic symptoms by consuming 6 to 8 pints of ionized alkaline water daily. You will reduce the acidity of your body and create an environment where it is difficult for disease to thrive.
Ordinary tap water can be run through a water ionizer and will produce pure ionized water that is both highly alkaline and rich in negative ions which act as a powerful anti-oxidant to neutralize the hordes of free radicals in our bodies.
