Every online business needs traffic in order to make a profit, that much we already know. Amateur blogs are usually done for fun, but if no-one reads it, there is little point in blogging.
But in this article, we're going to look at 4 of the most effective ways to set up windfalls of consistent traffic through one of the best publishing platforms online - blogs.
1. RSS Feeds
Most blogging software such as WordPress come with a built in RSS feed ; this is the equivalent to having a newsletter subscription service, but of course is 100% free and requires no details to be passed over from the subscriber. Most people just let their RSS feed sit there on their new blogs but what you need to do is submit your RSS feed URL to as many RSS directories as possible. Then, when you post new content on your blog, this is syndicated to your RSS feed and the directories display your most recent posts. This is one of the best ways to get immediate exposure every time you post content.
2. Blog commenting
If you're looking for targeted customers and some solid one way back links to boost your search engine ranking, then try commenting on other people's blogs which creates a link back to your website. Providing you post relevant and useful comments on other people's blogs, the blog owner will "approve" your comments and you link will then become live. This can bring direct traffic and of course help with your rankings in the search engines.
3. Guest Bloggers
There are many advantages to having guest bloggers post their comments on your site. Apart from the credibility of your blog going way up depending on who the guest actually is, you are forming a mini joint venture where the guest is likely to tell their own audience about the material on your site, plus you may be able to work out a deal where you can return the favor and get access to their blog audience by appearing as a guest blogger on theirs.
4. Track back links
A track back is when one blog communicates with another to tell the bloggers that their contribution has been referenced on someone else's post. So if you were to write a really good post, I could write about your post and create a track back on your blog. This tells the readers I've been talking about you and your post. Not only can this bring direct visitors, but also provides another back link to your blog which is great for a little search engine boost. When would this be most effective? Probably when I have a contrasting opinion to your original post or if I have something helpful or controversial to add to the original post.
These are just 4 of many ways to explode your blog traffic, but we're not done yet. It's possible to reach dizzy levels of traffic for your new blog right from day one when you have an arsenal of blogger’s traffic methods at your disposal.
