In the ideal world, affiliate marketing does not require that you have your own web site, deal with customers, refund situations, product development or maintenance. Affiliate programs let you have all of the benefits without any of these drawbacks. Joining an affiliate program is one of the easiest ways to launch into an online business and earn more profits without having to put up with any of the headaches.

Here are some ways that you can boost your affiliate program commissions overnight:

1. First, find out the best program and products to promote. You want to promote a program and product that will let you achieve the greatest profits in the least amount of time, and you want to be able to stand behind the product you are promoting.

There are several things you want to think about when you select this program and products. You want to choose a program that has a generous commission structure. You want to have products that will fit in with our target audience and you'll want a program that has a solid track record of paying their affiliates, easily and on time. If in fact you are already in one and this is not happening for you, get out of that program and start looking for a better one.

There are many, many of affiliate programs online, and you can afford to be picky. In fact, you can't afford not to be. You'll want to select the best program possible and you have the means to do so.

You should also be willing to write some free reports or short e-books that you can distribute from your site. It's very likely (in fact, almost a given) that you're competing with other affiliates who are promoting the same program. If you write a short report that is related to the product you're promoting, you can distinguish yourself from other affiliates and therefore increase your sales.

In these reports, provide some truly valuable information for free. Of course, you'll also want to "tease" customers in your report and encourage them to buy your product, but you should also simply give them some valuable information, no strings attached. This sets you up as someone to be trusted, given that you're willing to give something away truly for free. And again, this will likely increase your sales. You can also use this e-book or report to provide a detailed analysis of the benefits and features of your particular product, which will again encourage sales. By doing this, you'll distinguish yourself from other affiliates who are selling the same product.

2. Collect and save the e-mail addresses of those who download your free e-books. Oftentimes, people will not make a purchase on the first visit. However, by keeping e-mail addresses of people who have visited your site and downloaded your free report, thus soliciting your further contact, you can send them gentle reminders to keep coming back to visit your site. It has been shown in many cases that about six such solicitations will eventually result in a sale.

Make sure that you get contact information from a prospect before you send them on to the vendor's web site. You should keep in mind that you're providing free advertisement to the product owner and you get paid only when you make a sale yourself. If you send prospects directly to the vendor, they will probably buy directly from the vendor and not from you. However, when you get prospects' names, you can keep sending them other marketing messages (with their permission, of course) and may be able to earn an ongoing commission instead of just a one-time sale from them.

Publish an online newsletter or e-zine. This will help you get to know your prospects and if you know your prospects, you'll have an easier time selling to them than you will to a perfect stranger. Your newsletter also lets your prospects get to know you, so that you can develop a relationship based on trust with your subscribers.

3. Ask for higher than normal commissions from merchants. If you have already had success with a particular product, you should approach the merchant and negotiate a percentage commission for your sales, based upon previous success.

This is a win-win situation for both of you, since you will gain higher commissions and the merchant you've approached will gain guaranteed successful sales. If the merchant is smart, he or she will see the wisdom in this and should have no problem saying yes. The merchant has no risk whatsoever in giving you higher than normal commissions on sales, since the money gets paid out only after the sale is complete, so this is another reason that the merchant should have no problem with this approach.

4. You should also make sure that you write strong pay-per-click ads. PPC search engine is perhaps the most effective means to advertise online. As an affiliate, you can make a small income just by managing PPC campaigns through programs such as Google AdWords and Overture. Monitor them to see which ads are more effective and which you should either rewrite or dispense with.

If you try out these strategies, you'll see that they can make in the amount of your commission checks in a very short period of time.
