Regardless of your business here are a few tips to help you build your home based business with a firm and lasting foundation.
Tip # 1: Find quality prospects
Now I understand what it's like to be desperate to make money from home to the point that you'll accept just about anyone into your business. However, if you want to be successful in this industry you must find people who are going to work hard and are in it for the long haul.
Unfortunately, we cannot know who is going to be successful and who is going to work hard with the tenacity necessary to get past all the initial hurdles. You need to treat every new rep like an ?Ace?. You can only judge them after they have been around for a couple months. Reps are like a deck of cards, you might have to go through the entire deck before revealing the aces.
Also you will have some reps that start complaining on day one?let them go. They are like a cancer that will spread so recognize them, isolate them and if necessary tell them to quit.
Seek out people who are so passionate about working from home that they won't let negativity get them down. When you find a team of people who will work and work hard for as long as it takes to succeed you will have a strong foundation to take you into the future.
Tip # 2: Be honest with people
You must be open and honest with people. Don't ?sugar coat? it. Of course you don't want to say: ?oh man it's so hard you're gonna fail??but be honest about what it takes to get over the first few hurdles that every new rep will experience. Success in a home based business is guaranteed for those with thick skin and tenacity to see it through.
Pretty much all home business owners will have the opportunity to stretch the truth a little from time to time to sweeten the deal. However, this will only cause you heartache and the loss of respect from your team members. If you want to build a business that lasts you want to make sure you are always being 100% honest with people.
Stretching the truth about your business will give people false hope or higher expectations. This is setting them up for disappointment and also setting your business up for failure.
Tip # 3: Be a Steady Business Builder. It's a Marathon NOT a Sprint.
If you have ever had a home based business, I need you to be blatantly honest with yourself. Ask yourself how you have worked in the past. If you work really, really hard for a couple of weeks and then slow down for a while, you must change this habit.
Your success over time is much easier achieved with a slow and steady approach.
Success in a Home Based Business is a marathon NOT a sprint.
Most every home business owner I know has done the sprint then quit at least a couple of times. However, it is far better to set a pace as you would if you were running a marathon. If you set out on a marathon before you even begin you know that you'll have to be steady, you know that there will be pain to overcome, and you know to reach the goal line it's going to take some serious tenacity. I'm not saying that you have to build it slow? just don't shoot off like a rocket and then burn out after a month or two like a lot of people do.
By following these tips and building a solid foundation, you will more than likely build a business that will last a very long time. See you at the top!
