How To Buy A Used Car

    View:
There is large numbers of people making a living just taking cars on consignment and placing them on eBay. Some of these people have never even seen the car they are selling! This is a great business, usually the only risk is your auction fee and some shrewd consigners even get the car owners to pay for that.

As with most other online businesses, the biggest issue to deal with is gaining the trust of potential buyers. This can be a little difficult for someone just starting to do business on eBay. But, you can hardly blame the buyers who are spending thousands of dollars on a vehicle they have never physically seen.

eBay in their infinite wisdom has set up escrow services to help alleviate these fears. This definitely seems to help when the buyer knows that the money is going to be kept by a third party until the transaction is completed smoothly. The escrow service of choice is Escrow.com. The way thee system works is the buyer gets two days to inspect the vehicle, if everything is okay he notifies the escrow company and they release the funds to the selling party. If the transaction goes south, the buyer returns the item and the escrow company returns the buyer's money.

The online vehicle sales business has become so large that Escrow.com has even opened a division that only deals with vehicle sales. They even offer an inspection service which at this time is $125, not too bad for the piece of mind it affords.

Through Escrow.com the buyer can also deposit his payment with them and negotiate a period of up to 30 days to have the vehicle completely looked over. This time period must be agreed upon by both parties before the transaction is consummated. If the buyer doesn't contact the Escrow Company by the end of the agreed upon period then it is assumed the transaction is valid and the money is distributed to the seller.

Another value added service that has been implemented recently is worldwide shipping. Escrow.com will ship vehicles almost anywhere in the world, well except for Cuba. LOL. They will also get a vehicle history report like CarFax that tells the history of the vehicle and whether it has ever had major damage, been stolen, or even if it has been a vehicle for hire.

With all the positives offered here it would be wise to utilize the aforementioned company for any vehicle transactions online.
How To Buy A Used Car
You will want to be able to make a used car purchase more effectively for you, and be an enticing experience that will enable you to get a deal at a dealership that is very favorable for you. In order to do this, you will need to know how to deal and speak with a salesperson in order to get the best price for your future vehicle.

In general terms, sales people, no matter what sector or industry they are in, are well trained people who are taught to be good negotiators and who are trained to persuade people into purchasing large priced items, whether the buyer requires them or not, this will build on their commission. Therefore, you should learn some of the steps and tactics that the salesperson will use, but you should also be aware that you should be able to use their tactics against them and strike a dealer that is favoursim.

Any individual who works in sales will drive people to purchase products and services that they didn't necessarily want in order to meet targets. Therefore, identifying that you actually need a car for something, and are not just browsing, will influence their dealings with you in a unique way. You should also be highly aware that when you step into their office, they don't try and persuade you into buying something that you don't really need.

You should leave home with a specified budget and be sure not to exceed these limits. If you do this, then the salesperson will be forced to work within your budget and will only present viable used cars to you that are within this budget.

You shouldn't be in a state where you haven't made up your mind when you get to the showroom, as this is a good tactic that the salesperson can work on, meaning it will be more favorable for them to make your mind up for you and increase the amount of both time and cost you are willing to spend at the showroom. This may result in you purchasing a car that you didn't really want to buy or didn't like at first, but they will allow you to ?like? the car by using certain key phrases and tactics, and allow you to ?place yourself in the car?. Having the ability to resist these high pressure tactics and persuasion techniques, you will be able to throw the person off guard and clinch a deal that works in your favor ? that will be the car you want and be the right price within the budget that you have set.

Research into what the car is worth and how you are going to negotiate its price will also give you the ability to make a positive purchase, you will want to review market prices and gather information to get the right deal. When you are negotiating with a dealer, having knowledge of the current market price of the car will enable you to be on a level playing field and play a good ?negotiation game? with them. If you don't do this research and do not know what the average price of the used car you are buying, how will you know that you are getting a good price from the dealership? There are many places where you can find this information, but the internet will enable you to carry out a wide and large enough search on quality prices very quickly, you will be able to access a huge amount of information on a whole range of cars on the market, their price, features and possible negative points. You will also be able to compare prices between dealers for the same actual car, and I would suggest you do this to see how low some dealers will go.

You will need to be in a good position in order to deal effectively with a salesperson, and you will need to have experience at negotiating with others. If you are a good negotiator then you will not be intimidated or fearful of the other person, and you will be able to communicate and negotiate to an agreeable price with the salesperson. You should be able to stand out from everyone else and be able to effectively develop your negotiation skills.

When you meet with the salesperson and start to negotiate you should be able to use such tips effectively. You should be able to talk through the deal and have the ability to direct the salesperson to your ideal point where you can strike a deal.

After all, when you are talking and dealing with a car salesperson, you are dealing with someone trying to do their job, but you should identify that they will want to increase their sales yield with a sale to you and also improve their commission paid each month. If you are firm when you are buying your used car, then they will respect that you want to complete the deal as much as you and negotiate with you until it is closed.
