How To Clean Hair

    View:
Adhesives are a vital part of your hair replacement routines. You do not need to be told how important it is to keep your wig or toupee stuck firmly to your scalp, regardless of whether you wear your hair replacement unit on a daily basis or on an extended basis. Why is it important to keep your hair replacement adhesive clean? The reason is that not only does regular cleaning help protect your hair replacement unit and extend its life, it also prevents the buildup on the adhesive from being absorbed by your skin and hair.

What then is the best way to properly clean your hair replacement adhesive? Cleaning the adhesive tapes of the hair replacement unit is actually quite simple. Just follow the guidelines below.

First, gently scrap the adhesive tape off your hair replacement unit using your fingernails. If the tape is on the lace part of the hair, however, then leave it alone; you might only end up damaging the unit. If the tape would not come off, then perhaps you should leave the unit soaked in an adhesive remover first for a few hours.

When you are done with removing the adhesive tape, put your hair replacement unit in a plastic container and pour the cleaning solvent directly on it until it covers the base. Let the piece soak in the solvent until the tape on the lace area floats to the surface. Do not worry about soaking your piece overnight if you have to.

After the time allotted for the soaking has passed, remove the unit from the solvent, but do not throw the solvent away - at least, not for the meantime. Gently brush the adhesive residue from the lace areas with a nail brush. For the residue on the skin areas of the hair piece, use a teaspoon to scrape it off. When you have completely removed the residue from the hair replacement unit, return it to the solvent and let it soak for another two to three minutes.

The next step would be to wash the remaining residue on the base of the wig with dishwashing liquid. Use your nail brush to remove what residue is still there on the base. If the remnants are being stubborn on you, let the piece soak for some more in the solvent, and then wash the base again with dishwashing liquid.

Lastly, shampoo and condition your hairpiece, then let it dry. It will then be as good as new.

Cleaning your hairpiece of hair replacement adhesive residue is very important. You would not want your scalp to be irritated by old buildup, would you?
