Well my number one concern was always that the vanity bowl would just break as soon as I drop something in it. Well, as it seems - it's not just true. Most of the glass vanity sinks and bowls are made of tempered glass.
You've probably heard those words before but do you know what does it mean? Well, basically, it means that this glass was heated in the furnace and then cooled rapidly. The center of the glass stays hot and the surface is cool. As the center chills it creates additional pressure that forces the surface.
This means that tempered glass vanity sinks and bowls can withstand much bigger impact than usual glass ones. Add to that the fact that it's half inch glass and you can throw things in it being sure it won't soon break into pieces.
Well, during the time I saw a lot of glass sinks: green, red, blue, black ones. Those vessel sinks look really creative under the modern flourescent lights and water sparkles are mesmerizing you. Well, not for long I would guess, yet it's enough to buy one.
Of course there are other types, like copper sinks, but nothing beats the idea of clear surface under clear water - makes it look even cleaner than it really is. And with our modern lifestyle where many elements distract us - it's really going along nicely with the idea of minimalism and concept art. On the other hand copper is natural antibacterial material, which prevents infections a little more than other materials. Even restaurants are considering moving to copper sinks instead of aluminum ones (reasonably restaurants won't need glass sinks, except for maybe some really fancy ones).
Glass vanity sinks come in different styles, sizes and colors. They add sophistication to modern home environment and a touch of class and luxury. THe best part about it is that it fits both modern and antique styles of decoration and with the variety available on the market - it's hard not to find one that'll suit you, whereas copper comes in mostly one color (reasonably).
Don't forget that copper sinks require special cleaning sometimes. There are cleasing products special for copper, but it still requires some elbow grease to complete the process. I'm not talking that glass won't require cleaning, but at least it doesn't naturally lose it's cleanliness.
Some bowls are hand-made which means they are blown by artists meaning that you buy an work of art along with functional element for your bathroom.
I wouldn't imagine what beats cleaning your eyes in the morning from a blue glass vessel bowl, thinking of the sea and relaxing a little more after good sleep, before getting back to our modern office envirnment and it's hectic schedule.
