Some people may even start to associate that brand with their favorite actor or actress, encouraging them to buy the product.

If your company sold soda, for example, you might pay a popular actress or actor to make a video of them doing something with your brand of soda. They may open the refrigerator to grab a jug of milk and show you an entire shelf of that brand soda, or they could pour it into cups at a child's birthday party.

Just because a product is in a video doesn't mean that it is being used as product placement. Sometimes the product has just ended up there without trying. It is usually very easy to tell the difference. When a product is being branded, the clip it is in will get a perfect shot of the product with its full logo. It is also common for it to appear more than once throughout the clip. None of the competitor's products will be seen in the film at all.
