Bad credit score does not have an immediate impact on people. If someone can not pay their mortgage and has to go through foreclosure then probably the ramification of having his or her credit history significantly decrease is not on their mind at that time of hardship. The higher interest is your cost of getting your credit history score improved. After a few years of such high interest and when you credit history improves you can always refinance you debt to lower your payments.
