Many people who have just been through a breakup with their ex, wonder if it is really time to move on or if perhaps they could contact the person they've just broken up with to see if there's any chance of rekindling this relationship.
Relationships end by two people deciding to call it quits. Although this statement may fall into the category of ultra-basic, it actually raises a big question. The question is this, "just because we've broken up, does it necessarily mean we will never see one another again or did we just have a spat"
Should I Stay Away or Should I Go Back?
It is often happens that one of the partners who has experienced a breakup goes through the following days sad and wishing the whole thing had never occurred. It often happens at the same time, the other partner is going around also wishing the whole thing had never happened. Such a couple may be better served by contacting one another than by trying to adjust to a permanent breakup.
If you have just broken up with someone and you now have regrets, it may be worth finding out if the ex-partner also has regrets. The difficult thing is, you must contact him or her to find out if he or she really does have regrets as well.
Trying to Make Contact
Even though it is very difficult and nerve-racking at best, finding out if you're ex-partner also has regrets requires you contact this person directly. Hiding behind e-mails or having someone spy on this person as a means to getting his or her true feelings will inevitably backfire.
Don't bother sending a message through a third party. Try using the phone to re-initiate contact with your ex-partner. Whether your ex answers or you get a recorded message, simply state you're very upset over what has happened. Also say to you feel lost without him or her and you wonder if he or she would like to try to patch up the relationship.
A Breakup or a Disagreement?
Such a phone call may go long way toward patching up the relationship. Because of this direct contact, the next go around may make the relationship stronger than it was the at beginning. However, if contacting this person by phone in this way, or leaving two or three messages gets no positive response, it is safe to say the relationship is not worth trying to rekindle.
If you find contacting your ex results in re-igniting the relationship, you'll probably see this relationship will get even stronger. Maybe you'll find that the two of you will end up spending the rest of your lives together. However, often a person will have a few breakups before the right partner is found. So, if contacting the person you just broke up with bears no fruit, you'll know it is time to go on looking for the partner who will be compatible with you forever.
Maybe the most difficult thing to do in life is to get over a breakup with someone you feel you love. Still, it happens all the time. For a relationship to be successful both people must be in love. It is tragic, but sometimes breakups happen between two people who were actually meant for one another. So never let what might just be a lovers' quarrel end a relationship that might actually be the real thing.
