So you want a new car stereo system, do you? Maybe the thing that has been holding you back is the expense of having it installed. Well, you know you don't have to be a teenager to be able to install it yourself! It really isn't all that difficult if you have the right parts and instruction. In addition to saving money you get the satisfaction that you did it yourself and it is a great learning experience.
The first caveat I must give you is to slow down. Do not get in a hurry and try to shove something in where it doesn't go. The majority of car stereo systems are simple to install and usually have matching male-female connectors that only work one way to make it easy. Take your time so you don't ruin the hardware you have bought and paid for.
First off before you decide whether or not to install it yourself you need to consider what kind of system you are going to install in your car. If this is your first install you want to stay away from anything that is too complicated. If you are planning a system with TVs, LCD panels, and other more sophisticated items you would be better off leaving that to the pros.
If you are going with just a normal stereo with a head unit and speakers you can definitely do it yourself. Head units are really simple and thank God most of them follow the DIN size standards. You will recognize that in many cases that after you have removed the factory installed radio an aftermarket system will easily go in the same place with little or no adjustment.
If you have an import vehicle from Japan you will likely be using ISO mounting during the install process which is when the radio is screwed to the already existing factory radio brackets. Another way of mounting is called ring mounting which is the mounting kit that comes with an aftermarket radio to mount into the hole left by the factory radio. Sometimes trim and dash rings have to be filled in around the radio or they made need to be trimmed to make the stereo fit properly. Most places have kits that make this simple and you should go ahead and get a head removal tool as well to make that process painless.
The speakers are usually very simple to install. In most cases you will just use a set of speakers that fit into the same place as did the factory speakers just be sure that there are no unsightly holes or gaps afterwards. In many cases the simple act of building a fiberglass or wood baffle can eliminate this problem and give you a much better sound.
How To Install A Car Stereo System
We all have cellulite and that's including everybody. Believe me! Many think that cellulite appears only if you are overweight. But this is only one more common myth about cellulite. Many and many women of every size and shape, find themselves standing in front of the mirror, wandering what that cottage cheese doing on their upper thighs?
How much do you know about cellulite? It might surprise you to discover that some of your assumptions are based on myth. Here's your chance to find out whether you know the fat truth.
1. Cellulite only happens to overweight women. No. Even very slim women can have cellulite on their thighs, buttocks and hips. Cellulite results from the skin losing its elasticity and firmness. This allows fluids and fat deposits settle into the lower layers of the skin.
2. It's because I'm old! Young women never have cellulite.
Relax! Cellulite can develop as early as puberty but is not easily noticed due to the suppleness of young skin. Remember that anything that accelerates the skin-aging process, such as prolonged sun exposure, can be a factor in developing cellulite.
3. Cellulite is hereditary.
If your mother has cellulite it doesn't mean that you will, or that you can not fight it! Heredity is not a primary factor here. Your genes, your gender, the amount of fat on your body and the thickness of your skin are influencing factors. For example, thinner skin and excess body fat makes cellulite more visible. But not permanent!
6. Drinking too many carbonated beverages or eating lots of bread may cause cellulite.
Ye, just like eating while standing makes your thighs fat. Because cellulite is nothing more than regular fat, no foods cause it particularly, or can help reduce it.
5. Cellulite is a medical condition.
False. Need proof? Look it up in a medical dictionary. It's not there! From a medical point of view, cellulite is nothing to worry about. Cellulite is often confused with the medical condition cellulitis, a painful inflammatory skin condition, which is something completely different.
So, we just proved that cellulite is not a medical condition and you are completely healthy. Your mother is not to blame as well, and neither bread nor cola. It's not your age and not your weight. So what is it and what can you do about?
The good news is, just because there isn't a single factor or a miracle cellulite cure doesn't mean you can't take concrete steps to prevent cellulite's onset and minimize its appearance.
Choosing a car stereo system requires extensive market research and active participation. The price plays a big part, but soon you'll discover that the ears will make the final call. So before you even consider budget issues and sound quality, when you plan to buy a stereo system for your car, you should first think about your favorite radio stations and listening habits. Yes, there are numerous models, amplifiers and speakers available on the market but everything starts with your musical preferences.
Remember the times when new cars arrived only with an analog AM radio? Well those days are long gone and manufacturer sound systems are actually quite good now. So if you just listen to the news or talk radio, you might want to stick to your car manufacturer system, unless your car is really old and your speakers start screeching, then you might want to consider a new set of basic speakers.
If you are a Jazz Man or the Classical type, you can still keep your original speakers and just add some tweaks here and there. Coltrane loves a pair of good midrange units and your Schumann will sound wonderful with a new set of tweeters.
But if you really want to pump up the volume and get a powerful new sound system, start shopping for a head unit. Many buyers focus on the speakers but fail to realize the importance of a head unit. I'll take a long shot here but probably you will be driving the car while listening to music so the receiver you pick should have large buttons for easy control and feature a clear, bright display. When choosing a head unit, ask yourself whether you need a CD changer, a satellite radio? Do you need the system to read MP3 CDs or just connect to your iPod? These questions can help you focus on the right system that fits your needs best.
After the head unit comes the amplifier. If you are a party boy and planning to get a big set of speakers, you should get a powerful amplifier that will eliminate distortion. Weak amplifiers can damage the speakers, so don't settle on a cheap model or else you'll burn the system.
When choosing the speakers, the first thing to check is the size of your car's speaker mounting units. Just measure the diameter of your current speakers in the front and back of your car and remember to measure both the width of the speakers and the mounting depth. Don't try to force big speakers into a small mount because size doesn't have anything to do with sound quality.
The best advice we can give you now is to bring your iPod or come along with a CD of your favorite music and listen to your tunes on different types of speakers. This is a safe way to find the right speakers.
