How To Lose Stomach Fat

It is certainly no secret that thousands of people struggle trying to get rid of stomach fat. Some of these people have defined areas on their bodies, however they still have that little or maybe a not so small pooch that just won't seem to go away. The great news is that getting rid of fat anywhere on our body requires the same tried and tested formula ? decrease food intake and increase aerobic activity. People who have excess fat in the stomach area often feel embarrassed by the condition, and have low self esteem. Abdominal fat can often be quite difficult to get rid of because it is the primary storage area foradipose tissue and is one of the last places that the body will give up its fat stores.



There are many fat loss myths out there ? some quite funny and others just plain ridiculous. Below are two common myths that prevent people from reaching their weight-loss goals

Myth #1: Abdominal and oblique exercises burn fat from the stomach and love handles.

Since so many people believe this myth, most all of the abdominal product's infomercials claim to help you burn fat. While some fitness equipment and abdominal exercises will help firm and tone our abdominal areas, they will not get rid of the underlying fat. Performing aerobic exercises such as running or swimming, five times per week, thirty minutes per session will produce tremendous benefits if a healthy, low-calorie diet is followed.

Myth #2: Skipping meals will result in fat loss.

Skipping meals usually means a reduction in caloric intake and may result in weight loss, however skipping meals will not result in fat loss. Why? Because skipping meals hinders the body's fat-burning mechanism ? the metabolism. You see our metabolisms work best when we are eating small, balanced meals often. This is why bodybuilders usually eat five to six small meals per day.

Anyone that is serious about losing stomach fat must know what works and what doesn't. Below are a couple of tried and true weight loss facts.

Fact #1: Exercising in the morning on an empty stomach is the best time to exercise in order to burn fat. For example, if you jog before breakfast, your body will be burning stored fat (the carbohydrates) you left there during the night. A study conducted in Sweden a few years ago concluded that exercise in the morning before eating burns nearly three and a half times more fat than exercising in the evening! Obviously, exercising at any time during the day is better than not exercising at all.

Fact #2: Fat-loss programs should include aerobic and weight training activity. People who combine both weight training and aerobic exercise achieve faster results. The reason is quite simple. Aerobic activity increases the heart rate resulting in an expenditure of calories and weight training increases our metabolic rate, enabling our bodies can burn calories all the time.

If losing belly fat is your primary goal, creat an obtainable plan on how you would like to get started on your fat loss program. Make sure that your strategy includes a healthy eating plan, weight training and aerobic activity. You're not going to get rid of belly fat in just a few days, so stay possitve and you'll discover that it will get easier over time. Thousands of people have realized their weight loss goals and you can too!
How To Lose Stomach Fat
1. Ditch the fizzy drinks altogether - a US study 6000 people revealed that those who drank on or more soft drink a day had a 71% greater risk of obesity. Instead drink skimmed milk, low fat smoothies, green tea or water to quench your thirst.

2. With snacks, combine protein and fiber like an apple with a piece of low fat mozzarella cheese - this will help you feel full longer. Raw, unsalted nuts are great as a quick snack. Others like air popped popcorn, peanut butter, low fat yogurt makes great snacks too.

3. The types of food we eat is often thought to be the cause of weight gain and obesity - however, junk food and poor eating habits are not the only reasons. A recent study from Britain and Belgium found people were highly influenced by friends and family. Those who surround themselves with friends who are over-weight or gaining weight are more likely to gain weight themselves. This doesn't mean you should give your over weight friends the flick. Just be mindful - the next time you eat out, be aware of the types of foods you eat - and keep your portions at bay. Or just eat out less. Even better - encourage your over weight friends to join you on your weight loss journey.

4. You can eat dessert everyday (even if you're on a diet), as long as you keep the portion sizes in check. Depriving yourself will only make you crave it more. That doesn't mean you should dig into a piece of cake every night - otherwise, the calories will pile on fast. A few smart choices: fruits and berries with toasted oats, a small piece of dark chocolate, or a scoop of low fat ice cream (about the size of a tennis ball).

5. Regular exercise - this is the other half of the equation in fat loss. The best way to manage your weight permanently is combine a program of aerobic exercise with strength training (and a balanced low fat diet). As your fitness levels improve, look at getting into high intensity exercises as you'll be burning a lot more calories in total, and that means more fat in total. And throw that in with strength training, which will have a positive effect on your body composition, you can lose fat faster. Muscles simple burns more calories and fat away.

There you have it - 5 easy tips you can take action with and make positive changes to your body and health. It just requires you to make the effort and stick it out for the long run. Make it a point to be consistent with the new changes - if you started eating fruits as snacks, do it over a week with a variety of fruits, and if you started cooking your own meals, plan well and plan to cook more often. By taking control of what you can put into your body, you can lose weight and lose your stomach fat!
