Most of the affected persons declare that they only use water to cleanse their face skin and that they are afraid of using any cosmetic products or make-up because they think their disease will get worse.



Rosacea gives people a highly sensitive skin that is why when cleansing the skin we should not use the daily soaps, we should buy a cleanser that does not contain soap, oil and any fragrance. This cleanser will act gently upon the skin and will not influence its natural Ph balance. After using the cleanser, the face will be rinsed with plenty of water and blot with a soft towel in order not to irritate your skin.

The treatment given by the doctor should be followed strictly, and after applying the indicated medication, you should wait until it dries and then apply moisturizer, makeup or sunscreen. Sunscreen is benefic for you because the sun might damage even more your sensitive skin. It is recommended to apply on all your sun exposed parts of the body a moisturizer with a sunscreen, minimum of SPF15 even winter, not only in summer.

Taking care of the skin must be done twice a day: in the morning and before bedtime, so that all the dust and dirt will be removed from the face and the skin will be able to regenerate.

Because the skin affected of rosacea is very dry, you should avoid using brushes or rough towels to rub your face skin. Also, drink a lot of water and when going out in the cold cover your cheeks and nose with a scarf. When washing your face you should use lukewarm water instead of hot water, and avoid using astringent cleansers and after shaves or other cleansers that contain the following substances: salicylic acid, menthol, eucalyptus oil, because they will only over-dry your skin.

The clothes that is most suitable for you must be made out of cotton, silk, and natural fibers because they do not cause so much irritation when getting into contact with your face skin.

You can use make up, but the products must be light and oil-free. Using make-up is only for hiding the redness of the skin caused by rosacea, and does not substitute the treatment indicated by the doctor.
