With newspapers and magazines, the driving forces behind attracting readers are the articles. The advertisings are just along for the ride though they pay the bills.
On the Internet the same concept applies. Produce well-written content rich articles and promote your products within your article as they relate to your subject matter.
However, your articles' content must not be advertizory in nature. Advertising a product or service could cause the article to be rejected.
Submit them to Internet magazines, directories and tabloids etc. for people to read and see your site link.
This is also a good way to get back links to your site to improve search engine ranking and get extra traffic. And if anyone clicks on your site link then that's an added bonus.
Another use for back links in articles is to leave one in your bio box so as your article is passed around you can leverage each site it is viewed from.
And of course your articles must be credible and professional, in other words they must be "publish worthy" to be considered for inclusion in respectable Internet publications.
Editors may reject empty articles with no substance and you may become known as an article spammer.
Avoid being a spammer by making sure your content is relevant and valuable.
One good strategy for determining relevant content is to do a keyword search for your area of concern. Research the best keywords that you find. Look for market gaps in serving those keywords and develop your content around the underserved areas.
Certainly, by now you see how valuable articles can be to your site. However there is a down side to articles.
Someone who publishes your article but doesn't give you the credit for the content may rip you off.
And then there are the "scrapers"; thieves who steal a bit of this article and a bit of that article to build their article and then publish it. Scraper programs have been developed to steal content from websites some times sentence by sentence.
Then there are the people who call themselves consultants. They have no regard for copyright law and just copy and paste articles from other peoples' sites without getting permission.
But the Internet is so vast that odds are you will never know if this happens to one of your articles. Don't lose any sleep over it.
Presently there's not much you can do about it. Keep writing and ignore them stay focused.
The pluses far out weight the minuses. Consider making two versions of your article. The one for your web site will have more keywords than the one sent to ezines.
By doing this the search engines will increase your web sites' ranking and bring you more traffic.
Article submissions offer a tremendous amount of traffic potential. As with anything on the Internet there is a learning curve you must get past.
There is a genre of "direct to the point" ebook tutorials that have enlightened so many people, including myself, on just what to do to master the art of using articles to make a serious income online.
You can expect great results from your submitted articles. In time they can be distributed all over the Internet for thousands of people to benefit from and your web site gains exposure.
