"I'm going to visit my family this Christmas, and they all know I'm in this business.
How can I talk to them about these life-changing products and get them to LISTEN to me?
And - still have a place to go for Christmas dinner next year?"
Two things:
1. Do not lecture them how great the company or product is or use lots of impressive (to you) scientific technobabble no one cares about.
Remember, you are selling it, everyone knows it, so EVERYTHING you say is suspect. Just like the words of any sales person are somewhat suspect. They have an agenda, remember?
2. Instead of selling and pushing, tell your story and ask only for referrals.. E.g.,
GRAMPS: "So, Lilly, what's new with you?"
YOU: "Hey Gramps! Let me tell you what's new with me...Our company's introduced a product for people who have achy knees and joints like I used to, and who don't like drugs. Do you know anyone who might like to know about a product like that?"
Then, LET GO. Make the rounds, tell your story in words a 13-year old can understand, and ask one question over and over:
"Do you know anyone who might like to know about a product like that?"
Then let go.
Chances are excellent that you'll have a place to come for Christmas dinner next year. And perhaps a referral or two.
Remember what Jesus told his disciples when people were not responsive...
P.S. Here's a way to add the business builder part:
"Do you know anyone who might like to know about a product like that?...Or who might like to help us find more customers?"
Friendly scripts plus ways to customize them for your own situation are laid out in the If My Product's So Great, How Come I Can't Sell It? book and CD program here at my Banana Marketing Store:
Nowadays, it is not easy to employ people to work for you, especially when you want to hire someone to baby sit for your child. First and foremost, you need someone whom you can trust with the caring of your child. In some cases, parents discovered in the end that their child has been abused by their nannies. Sometimes hired nannies take advantage of the helpless child and harm them while you are not around. There are also some cases wherein, an agency failed to do a background check on the recommended person for employment. As a parent, you want to avoid such negligence in employing someone. Look after the safety of your child then make sure you do a background check. It is a harmless move that can ensure your family's safety.
A background check is a means of looking up the official or commercial records of a person. This is often done when a person applies for a position that needs high security like in banks or schools. Nowadays, you can purchase this service from private businesses like Sherlock Records. A background check can assist you in so many ways. The information given when you run a background check includes the person's history of employment, criminal records and a lot more. In this way, you will be able to do a thorough check on the person you are planning to hire to take care of your kids while you are at work or out of town.
There are various types of background checks and this includes going over the candidate's past employments and employment references. You can also verify the gaps in her employment history. In this process, you may also learn about her character references and verify the level of education she obtained. You will also be able to get information on her identity and verify her address. The address verification may include your employee's past and present addresses. If you are planning to hire someone out of the country, you can also verify the validity of her passport. The most important thing to know in doing a background check is to know if the candidate employee has a criminal history, whether it is a petty crime or not.
A background check is a crucial process that parents should consider in employing a baby sitter or a nanny for their kid. They have to make sure that they will be leaving their kids in safe hands. It is suggested that you should exert effort in checking your soon-to-be-employee's background especially if you just moved in the city or was assigned to an unfamiliar place.
Perform a background check on the person who is applying for the job or even after you have hired her. The act of doing a background check will give you a peace of mind and prevent danger in the future. Think about the safety of your children and run a background check on the nanny you plan to hire so you need not to worry each time you step out of your home.
