So many people would love to get up in the morning, head into their home office and make money sitting at their computer all day, without having to climb out of their pajamas. Earning money from home is not a new thing and there are plenty of opportunities to make money at home, legally, provided you have the right skills and attitude to be successful. A business that is run from home does not mean a business that does not require hard word and time spent.
There are three areas in which a lot of people are earning a decent living from home:
Affiliate Marketing
Article Marketing
Internet Marketing
With affiliate marketing, you are essentially a referral service, sending visitors from your internet website to other websites and earning a commission on any sales they provide. Commissions from affiliate marketing can range from a few dollars per sales or referral to several hundred dollars, depending on the type of product or service to which your visitors are being referred.
There are two basic types of affiliates, one is where the main company establishes a website in your name and you advertise the site to the masses. Any sales that are made on your site, you get credit for and earn a commission. The primary objection many users have is that the site is owned by the company and you, as the supposed business owner, have no control over what is on the site. Essentially, you are advertising the site for someone else for which you earn a commission on sales that your advertising generates.
The best way is to have your own internet site, which can be easily set up and over which you have complete control. You decide how the site appears to your visitors and you are not limited to the types or number of businesses for which you are advertising. With your own site, you can include your own content as well as the advertising that you post on the site and earn, usually smaller commissions, from a greater number of online businesses.
Article marketing allows you to use your talents as a writer to create informational articles that other website owners will want to use on their sites to help attract traffic. By writing about things you are familiar with, there are websites and online magazines that willingly publish information from freelance writers and pay to be able to use them Payments for these types of articles is usually small, but once established as a dependable contributor, the income can at least be consistent.
Internet marketing covers a lot of area and includes freelance writing, blogging and letting your ideas be shared with others. Many bloggers are creating a source of income by writing about thing with which they are familiar on different blogs while referring people to other internet sites. Many businesses pay bloggers to talk about their business or products in a conversational manner, without actually sounding like a paid advertisement. Getting started is the tough part, but once established others will be

Recently, one of our members told us she has been working her candle business for over a year with little return and 2 days after starting her V.A. (virtual assistant) business, she was profitable.
Not surprising at all. She had some connections and was able to find business owners that needed her help. She fulfilled a need and was paid for her time.
If you are still struggling with the online business thing and need to put food on the table or have extra funds to invest in your business, you can offer a service too.

If you are going to start a service-based business and want to get it going right away, I'd recommend the following:
1. Choose something where you likely have access to a client base.
For example, if you want to be a VA and already have a bunch of Internet business owners, you might have a pool of interested people. That doesn't mean you can't start from scratch in something that interests you, but realize it might take longer to get up and running.
2. Set up a website right away.
Even if it is a basic website that tells people why they need your service and a way to contact you, get that up right away. As a home business owner, you need to have an office where people can visit you. Your website is your office. You can tweak and improve it later.
3. Ask people for referrals.
If you know somebody might be in touch with your ideal client base, ask for referrals. Also, ask the clients you acquire for referrals. Satisfied clients are an amazing source of new clientele.
4. Do a great job, but don't overload yourself.
Remember, you are getting paid for the time you work with your clients, but a business has other obligations as well. You need to schedule time (or hire someone) for administrative tasks, marketing, etc.
The only thing to consider now is that if you start a service-based business, you've set yourself up with a JOB that you do from home. In part 2 of this article, you'll find tips to turn your home job into a full-fledged business.
