I am just amazed that ten years ago you would have never heard any complaints regarding a hotel like this. The staff was extremely rude when I questioned them about the internet being down for four hours, which is the reason I booked the hotel. I am just amazed that this would be THE reason people would book a hotel.
I guess I jsut feel like there are many other things that you can do at a hotel besides surf the web. I like to go to hotel bars, meet new people, chat it up. I usually could care less about the internet in a hotel, and I am a guru. I like to find hotels that are close to things to do, or have a spa, or are on the beach. I really could care less about spending my time on the internet.
On our site we just got a review from a guy who rated a four star property 1 out of 5 points because their internet was not working. Can someone really stay that a hotel was a 20% rating because the internet was out? Here is the best part the client listed these all as positive things, but still didn't like the hotel. "They had great food, great prices and the room was large. I loved that I could park on the same floor as my room, and the security system added to the stay." The only bad point was that the internet did not work.
I just can't believe you would rate a hotel one out of five points for the internet being down. If the guy was on a business trip, or at a conference then sure I would understand. This guy was porting out the next day on a cruise. I wonder if he will complain that the internet didn't work in the middle of the Ocean. Cocoa Beach is awesome I go there every year. I can't imagine being in that beautiful of an area and even being worried about the internet. There is a bar right across the street from this hotel that has fantastic frozen drinks.
My point is that I can't believe people travel to what I would consider paradise and complain that the internet is not working. They travel all this distance from home, and all they want is to sit in front of a laptop. Even at a beautiful beach. My feeling is I would rather the hotel not have the internet, then there is no risk of me wasting my time looking at it.
