Installation Of Solar Power

    View:
Solar power is a safe and popular alternative source of energy. In simple words, solar power refers to the energy generated from sunlight. There are different methods for harnessing solar energy for your day-to-day needs. In recent years, there has been increased interest and talk about the benefits of solar power. The increased interest in solar power largely due to three factors: one is our escalating energy bills, second is our depleting fossil fuel reserves, and finally the environmental impact of burning fossil fuels.

Solar power addresses the concerns quite well because it uses sunlight for generating energy, which is available free, and it is harmless to the environment. This is why many domestic and commercial establishments are switching to solar power to meet their energy requirements. Moreover, solar power is of great value for use in remote locations where you do not have conventional sources of power. Solar power is also widely used by owners of Recreational Vehicles (RV) and luxury boats.

Solar Power at your home

Solar power is being noticed for its widespread use at homes. Solar powered lights are quite common for garden lighting and some people are using it even for indoor lighting. Solar power is undoubtedly a viable energy source for your home because it has no recurring cost and a very low, almost negligible, maintenance cost.

Photovoltaic Tiles for Your Home

The big concern regarding the use of solar power is the bulky size of solar panels. However, this concern has largely been addressed with the development of small solar photovoltaic cells and the solar photovoltaic roof shingles. The solar photovoltaic roof shingles or tiles look quite similar to your normal roof shingles and provide you the freedom from large solar panels.

You can use photovoltaic tiles to supply electrical power for your home use. This electrical power can be used to heat water, and even heat your house. Some people also use solar power to heat the pool. The solar power generated by the PV shingles is just like the normal power you use for your everyday needs.

Solar Water Pumps

Solar power is being used to power water pumps in remote areas. Although windmills used to be the main source of power for the water pumps, recently the solar power has increasingly become the preferred source.

The government provides grants to people for purchase and installation of solar power devices such as solar energy panels and solar photovoltaic singles. Using solar power really gives you a double benefit as you are not only preventing environmental damage but also you are also cutting down your electricity bills. If you are not able to use solar power for your house on your own, you still have the option of buying the solar power from the grid.

Installation Of Solar Power
Perhaps we are happy with the status quo of today. Perhaps you feel all is fine and you don't feel the need to change a system that's worked for over a century. If you do, consider a few of these benefits to solar power and you may just recognize its potential in a somewhat more responsible, yet selfish, light.

But What If I don't care about the environment?

Maybe all in the world is OK as far as you are concerned. The very last thing that you give a damn about are trees, clean air and pure drinking water. Heck, the water turns up every time you turn on the faucet, the heat comes on when it's cold, the light switch brings you a bright light. What is there to be concerned about? Consider that this is just the problem. If you don't care for the state of affairs, the spigot may not bring you pure drinking water, the furnace may not go on and the suv certainly will not start. If the environment is kept clean and left to do what it was supposed to do, everything will continue to work just fine. But get in its way and everything you thought was all right won't be for very long.

Makes Economic Sense

In most instances, 70% of the southern hemisphere can generate enough solar power to run and heat their homes with existing solar systems. This means that whatever is left over goes back to the power grid if you so choose. Just think of your energy meter running backwards. The extra energy you need for that cloudy day is stored in ever more efficient batteries. Most current users indicate that the use of solar electricity systems only takes a small amount of thought in terms of energy management.

Cost savings

One of the best things about taking care of the suns ability to do its job is that it saves you money in the long run. Once photovoltaic solar modules are procured and installed, they cost very little, if anything to operate. In most instances, the government will even help to pay for the upfront costs of installing the system through tax incentives. Additionally, power companies in most regions are required to pay you for energy that you have generated and not used. Yes, you read correctly, the power company will pay you!

Personal responsibility

Past the cost benefits and environmental benefits that solar power brings you should consider using it because you are part of a larger social order that will procreate. The human species has not been on this planet for all that long and is doing its best to end its run in one way or another. If you would like to give your children's children a far better chance at continuing the human species' time on this planet, solar electricity is one small contribution that you can make all by your self.

Versatility

Even though the solar electricity generation systems of today have come a long way in providing power, heating and a host of other services there is a really long way to go. This is not to indicate, however, that solar power is not currently versatile in form and function. Solar panels can currently be formed into thin sheets for vehicle top electric powered vehicles. They can cover urban rooftops and not be noticed, unlike those 1960s units. Prices are also coming way down, almost as fast as the TVs of today.

Off the grid

Depending upon how you feel about things, one of the better reasons to use photovoltaic solar modules is that you can jump off the 'power grid' so to speak. Many people don't enjoy being a part of the social collective that is interconnectivity. Going photovoltaic takes you away from this one aspect of community and puts you closer to self reliance.

One way to attain the goal of keeping all the creature comforts of home working satisfactorily is by using other sources of power generation like the sun, and not generating nasty things that get in the way of the environment doing its job. Most present-day sources of power include carbon based fuels such as oil which are derived from fossilized plant matter. Environmentally responsible energy, heat and daily transport come from living or energized sources like h2O and oxygen molecules. The Sun's rays can be turned directly into useful electricity and used to power your boat, heat your home and provide your light. But to make the process work, you need to be able to have a direct shot at the sun, which means caring for the environment and not getting in its way.
