Job Market In Australia

    View:
The leading Indicator of National Employment (LINE), a report that was jointly authored by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and the Rutgers University School of Management and Labor Relations, provides an early, accurate indication of changing job market conditions and is closely attuned with the regular report of the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The report surveyed Human Resources in 500 manufacturing and 500 service companies.

The report relies on extensive surveys of Human Resources executives in manufacturing and service sector corporations to come up with economic indicators that identify early economic trends and changes in the national job market. The report focuses on four key employment measures, namely, job expectations, job vacancies, new-hire compensation and recruitment difficulty.

Employment expectations in the manufacturing sector remain strong for July but are lower than in June. However, the outlook for July 2006 is still better than in July 2005. The report indicates that the demand for workers is increasingly strong, with more vacant positions for both exempt and nonexempt staff. However, HR executives say that they are having a difficult time finding and recruiting qualified workers with the required skills. Despite this apparent shortage of available workers, there are no plans to increase new-hire compensation.

In the service industry, a reported 58% of employers plan to expand their labor force over in July 2006, a figure which is actually down from 66 percent in June, but still a strong indicator of an expansionary job market. Close to a third of employers reported an increasing number of vacancies that they are actively trying to fill and about 21 percent said it was getting harder to find qualified workers. This reflects a five percent increase from June.

The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) is the world's largest association devoted to human resource management. Representing more than 210,000 individual members, the Society's mission is both to serve human resource management professionals and to advance the profession. Founded in 1948, SHRM currently has more than 500 affiliated chapters within the United States and members in more than 100 countries.
Job Market In Australia
Every city in the country has a public works department, this department requires public works jobs are. The level of skills that it takes to work in each department varies. As with any field of work the educational requirements are different. The public works department takes care of a number of projects. Public works jobs give much needed attention to the infrastructure of a community and its everyday workings. When people think of public works jobs they may be thinking of jobs that are low paying and unskilled. Not so. There are jobs ranking into the $200,000 range. The Sandhogs of New York City make $100,000 in salaries plus benefits.

The infrastructure of the country is in disrepair and is going to be in need of people to make those repairs. Money has already been pledged to get this rebuilding going. In the public works department water facilities must be maintained, roads built, surveys must be taken, traffic facilities maintained, and public transportation facilitated. Storm drainage facilities are an extremely important part of our public works area whether you live in the a part of the country where snow and ice comes on a regular basis or where rain and rivers cause flooding, without a well kept drainage system living in our cities could be quite possibly, impossible.

There are people who work in public works jobs that are quite common to our everyday live. Trash pick up, servicing traffic lights, meter readers, park maintenance personnel, city clerks and many others. There are the people who have the job of ordering equipment, others who handle the money being allocated for different projects, and those whose job it is to see to it that all of these things get done.

Without any of these a city state or county cannot function. With focus now being placed on the repairing of roads and bridges the need for more public work jobs should be on the rise. The public work jobs will become a leading source in our job market.

With the need to become energy independent the need for better public transportation is a very important part of the public works jobs system. Placing money into public works jobs is investing in the community, putting people to work and repairing neighborhoods. It is felt that the direction of the future administration will be to work towards this goal of energy independence and infrastructure repair.

We go about our everyday lives not thinking about the streets we drive on or how the traffic lights change. We never really think about the inter workings of the cities. The only time we give any thought at all to these activities is when the system stops working and even then we depend upon it being corrected as soon as possible. This is the job of the public works department and if they were not there our day-to-day activity would not go with the relative smoothness that it does. There are indisputably times when things do not go as planned but overall the traffic lights work, the roads are there and the snowplows are out when we are asleep. Thanks to public works jobs.
