Keywords are the single most important aspect of any type of research. Without the right keywords, your search for the right information will be impacted negatively. When you type your keywords into the search box, the search engine will browse its billions of indexed pages. The websites which show up will be based directly on the key words entered, among other factors. Think about this fact: companies spend large amounts of money to ensure that their websites come up when people search for certain terms. Showing up on the first page of the results of a search can mean the difference between success and failure of a website.
Unsurprisingly, tools have been developed that can be used to find good keywords for searching purposes or to help businesses researching for keywords with the aim of starting online advertising campaigns. Some of these tools are even freely available. Although different, they essentially carry out the same functions. After entering search terms, these tools will produce results of different keyword combinations along with results produced from Overture. A quick search using such terms as "keyword tools" or "free keyword tools" will help you find them.
There are currently two well known and widely used of these tools, but more are being developed all the time and considering a few are even freely available, there is no reason why they should not be used. To further understand the importance of key words let's talk a little about how search engines actually work.
The results returned by any search engine are based upon the websites that have been indexed by it. To index a site, a search engine has a spider which visits the website. The spider reads through what is on the website and then follows the links on the site to reach the other web pages. This is the first step.
The second step is for the page that has been spidered to be indexed. This does not always happen immediately, but may take some time. Finally, the search engine has a software program which will rank the different websites on different keywords. Each search engine has a different software program because each engine uses a different formula to calculate how important a website is. There are different factors which are important to how highly a website will rank.
Some of the factors which go into search engine rankings are as follows: keywords, links, relevant content, and click through rate. The keywords used on a website will help determine how it is indexed.
Links are important because it shows that others find the information you have to be valuable. The search engines will do a link analysis to see how many links you have as well to judge how valuable they are.
It is very easy to get many links to your website but it can sometimes be hard to get quality links. You want to make sure that you have a great deal of relevant content which is updated consistently. Search engines will also look at click through rate. This means that your website visitors visit your website and visit more than one page. It can help show that your site is perceived to be of high quality or to contain useful content by your visitors. These are only a few of the criteria but are of the more important variety.
The internet is a veritable treasure trove of information. But most people will never lay their eyes on the billions of pages of valuable information and data, because they fail to appreciate the importance of key words. Make sure you don't and you will come closer to unlocking the full power of the net.
Key Words In A Resume
Not only do the words that our client say have significance, but the client will tell you loud and clear exactly which words are most important. How will they communicate this? They will use analogue or digital non-verbal markers.
Let's say the client is talking and then changes their tonality when saying a certain word. The coach or therapist immediately pricks up their ears; what was that word that the client's unconscious mind chose to mark out for us? What meaning does the client assign to that word? Is it a problem? A resource? Maybe a belief or value?
Similarly suppose the client says a certain word and their unconscious mind chooses to mark this with a gesture. Exactly the same thoughts arise; why did the client choose to mark out this word for us? Is this a resource or problem state? Is it a belief or value?
When we have determined the meaning that the word has for the client then we have a tool to use to help them to change. Let's take an example from a recent session, Bob talks about ?Karma?, clearly marking out the word. Up goes the radar; what does this word mean to him? We decide to test the meaning of the word by suggesting that changing his behavior will result in positive consequences while continuing the old behavior may lead to adverse Karma for him. The unconscious response we get is immediate. This is the meaning of unconscious communication.
So how do we calibrate unconscious verbal communication? This is based upon proper training and experience. I have seen therapists casually pass over words that were clearly marked out by the unconscious mind. However, there are things that an In-Depth NLP? Practitioner can watch out for:
? Is this the sort of word that is likely to attract meaning? For example, Karma may be a charged word, hotdog probably isn't.
? Is there a change in tonality in respect of a certain word?
? Is there a specific and noticeable gesture associated with the word?
? Is there a specific physiology, breathing or other change associated with the word?
? Most importantly, is the unconscious response repeated when we encourage the client to repeat that concept?
What do we do with a word, which is marked out by a client's unconscious mind? In terms of In-Depth NLP? the question is easy: the word acts as a trigger, or in NLP terms, an anchor, for a particular state, value or belief. By ?showing? us this trigger, the client's unconscious mind is inviting us to use this word to help them to change.
So by repeating this word at an appropriate time, together with the tonality, posture and gestures that let us know the importance of this word, we trigger the state associated with the word. Listening for these terms gives us exquisite control over over the timing of our client's state at any particular time.
These techniques and more are taught on our In-Depth NLP? courses in New York.
