The Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island were one of our favorite stops on the entire trip. The ferry ride is easy to take children on, and the history park area around the statue and the Ellis Island Museum offer a lot of space for expending energy between tours. If you are interested in touring the interior of the statue, a limited number of time passes are available at no cost daily on a first-come first-served basis from the Ferry Company
While there, take advantage of the Park Service photography service to have your group's photo taken in front of the Statue. They get the shot at a perfect angle to show you and the statue.... good family vacations souvenir.
NBC Studio Tour
This tour was especially kid friendly and fun. We toured several of the NBC studios including the Nightly News Studio, and the Saturday Night Live studio. The tour offered a few interactive activities for the group. The group got to go through the motions of creating a newscast including a weather report.
The tour starts in the Sweet Shop of the NBC Experience Store and ends back in the Studio Store.
The Brooklyn Bridge
The bridge is one of the completely free New York City Attractions. You can, of course, spend as much time as you want to on the bridge. There are plaques all along the bridge spelling out the history of the bridge. The views of New York City from the bridge are spectacular. The area around the base of the bridge is a beautiful area of downtown New York City. Chinatown is just a few blocks to the North of the bridge, and is another great place to walk through.
One of the best things about spending your family vacation time on the bridge is simply spending time together, walking and learning more about the country.
Kid Friendly New York City Restaurants
The city also has another secret weapon it is very child friendly. There are very few places that both adults and kids will enjoy equally. Firstly, the city boasts some of the most spectacular beaches. If you find yourself staying near the city centre then the beaches are easily accessible via trams which will not take longer than 12 minutes at peak times. The two best beaches ate arguably Playa Malvarossa and Playa de las Arenas. The water is warm and the sand is soft.
The best time to visit Valencia is in the spring time. However, if you are happy with a hot sun then the summer months will appeal to you. Just make sure that you cover up with a hat and a high SPF sun screen. Children with fair skin are especially at risk from the sun so make sure you take extra care here.
The beaches allow for the hiring of beach chairs and sun umbrellas so you do not have to take much with you and when it comes the time that the kids are nagging for something to eat you will not find any shortage of restaurants. Valencia cuisine will provide for even the fussiest of eaters and even then, you will find most international chain restaurants at your disposal. Worst case scenario, there is nothing wrong with ice cream once in a while and it will keep the kids very happy.
If you are travelling with kids then your best bet will be to find a self-catering holiday apartment. This will allow you more space to move as well as being able to cook when you want to as opposed to having to get the kids down to the hotel restaurant.
You should also take a trip to the City of Arts and Sciences. Although the name may sound boring especially to the kids it is home to the biggest aquarium in the whole of Europe. Here your children will be able to have a lot of fun while also learning something very valuable. The aquarium is an incredible adventure and you should put aside a few hours to spend here. Entry is not too expensive and it is cheaper in the off season.
Valencia will offer you more than just another family holiday. There is something for everyone to enjoy and you will really not regret your trip at any stage.
