In 1863, bad traffic congestion on roads in london city centre led to the construction of the world's first metro system, the london underground.

The city was bombed badly during world war two & multitude lives were lost. following the war, multitude buildings in the city had to be rebuilt.

Aafter the second world war, immigration transformed London into one of the much diverse cities in Europe. Immigration wasn't always smooth, as there were huge race riots in brixton and notting hill, but intergration was definitely more smith than in other english regions.

The museums & galleries in London are the perfect in the country. One of the favourite galleries is the Tate Modern, which is found on the site of the former Bankside Power Station. The gallery opened in 2000 & it boasts a wide variety of permanent exhibits by artists including Warhol, Peter Blake & Picasso, in addition to touring exhibitions. access to plenty exhibitions is free.

London's shops are some of the finest in the world. From designer outlets to independent outlets, there is something for everyone in this massive city.

One of London's most famous stores is Hamleys, a massive toy shop on Regent Street. its a huge tourist attraction & receives 5 million visitors every year, many of these people visit at christmas. with an impressive 7 floors, the toy shop caters for everyone, from babies & toddlers to adults!

London boasts great museums, which we are sure that everyone will find stimulating. From great theatres, to exclusive clubs and cocktail bars, there's something for everyone in London.

One of the most well-known clubs is the Embassy, which is a private members club on Old Burlington st. The night club is quite expensive, but it's full of celebs and great for star spotting. as well as this, it serves great food by michelin star winner Garry Hollihead.

Because it is such a major location, London is very simple to get to. in fact, it is well connected by rail & boasts some big railway stations, including London Bridge, London Victoria, London Euston & Liverpool st. in addition to this, the city also boasts 3 major airports, Heathrow; Stanstead & Luton.

Driving in London can be difficult because of the congestion charge, however the city boasts a exciting underground & bus network to help people get about.

This fabulous museum boasts sometimes exciting exhibits, comprising of the renowned replica diplodocus skeleton, often known as dippy, which is displayed in the museum's central hall. Another fabulous exhibit is the skeleton of a blue whale, which weighs a massive ten tons and is exhibited in the large mammals hall.

London is renowned for its shopping, which means that you'll find everything from kooky independent shops and markets, to designer shops.

One of the city's most renowned shops is Selfridges, which is on Oxford street. It was 1st opened in 1909 by Harry Selfridge, who wanted to make shopping lively rather than just a chore. He succeeded & the store now has four other branches in various cities throughout the uk.

Needless to say the fashion in London is some of the perfect in the world. there are countless nightclubs, live music venues, elite cocktail bars, relaxing pubs &Michelin starred culture to enjoy.

The Met Bar in the metropolitan hotel is one of the city's most famous cocktail bars. The cocktail bar is so elite that its members or hotel guests only after 6 'o' clock. The cocktail bar is extremely popular with celebrities, so you can do some exciting star spotting there.
